See that is a good deal but I won't see it for a long time if ever. I guess I'll go ahead and get it at the price it is at.

It's a brilliant series....you won't be disappointed. It's sister series Baccano is a top 10 favorite of mine.

It can still be slice of life with mech battles.

And thank you God finally!

Somewhat Aniplex related - I just picked up a copy of Garden of Sinners - Recalled Out Summer JP release... It was used but in great condition, box Excellent, discs un-played, from a US seller, for $50... I already have the Aniplex USA release on pre-order, and the Japanese release is not English friendly at all - but it does have a bunch of art cards, a drama CD (no English) and the OST CD included, which are not included in the US release - so I may do a bit of Frankensteining and combine the two releases somehow, perhaps. It also has a matching slipbox to the JP Garden of Sinners 7-movie box set already in my collection; I highly doubt the US release will have the same matching slipbox. Unfortunately we have as yet no images of the US release, as far as I've seen anywhere, so I wasn't going to let this one slip by...

Anyone own the Fate Zero boxes? Love the show and am tempted to pick them up.

Read a few good reviews and enjoyed hearing how the episodes are spread out in a 4-4-5 layout, Fandom in particular mentions video bitrates are in the 30s and low 40s, which is great to hear, nice amount of breathing room. That price, though.

Noticed that I can import a UK (MVM) version for much less. I know for sure the Aniplex discs will look and sound better but for comparison's sake, does anyone know how the UK discs stack up? If they don't look and sound too bad, I may just go for those.

But the video snob in me wants to go for the Aniplex release. First world dilemma.

Save the money and get the UK versions. They look and sound excellent. Just keep in mind that they are Region locked to B.

The Aniplex releases can look a whole lot better and I'd never pony up that much money either way.

If you really want bitrate get the JP release :P.
From what I remember I legitimately did not see the bitrate drop under 41.7mbps or something, it made me so happy at how damn pretty it looked :P

I own the Aniplex USA boxes and have watched them the whole way through. No complaints whatsoever. out of four for video and the Japanese audio. If dubs are a must, be aware it's a lossy track on these boxes. Didn't bother me, because death to dubs. But if you have the money and don't like dubs, go for the JP Aniplex boxes like Sylontack is talking about. If you look on Yahoo JP auctions you might be able to snag the complete series art box for them (Aniplex USA made no equivalent for their releases).

Thanks all for the replies.

Good to hear the UK set looks and sounds good, I've got all regions covered so am good there as well.

I own the UK Gurren set and was happy with it but Naiera and I had a friendly exchange and I got tempted into getting the Aniplex release, which am glad for. I checked out the first volume and I enjoy the quality found in the Aniplex release a bit more. Price does sting though no doubt lol. I plan on ordering the rest of the volumes every other paycheck. I've got vol2 on the way.

Forgot about the Japanese FateZero sets, I looked them up and they look very plush and swanky, great info on the vid bitrate, as well, nothing below 41? Awesome. Props to those who own it. But sadly, they are out of my price range. The price for the Aniplex release is already pushing my limit.

As for sub vs dub, I prefer sub but if the dub is good, sometimes I will go for that. Few examples of dubs I enjoy are the ones for Cowboy Bebop, GitS, GitS SAC, etc. I hear they did a nice job dubbing FateZero.

Will think on this a bit more but right now, am leaning towards getting the Aniplex version of F/Zero.

I'm sure it does at some points go below 40 but I hit the stats display every so often on a few discs and observed a very consistent 41.7 or something along those lines.
I got my sets pretty cheap, you can get them used comparatively cheap now (English owners sell for the AoA set, I don't blame them- as far as dubs go it's very good) especially from within Japan (Mandarake, Yahoo Japan Auctions etc.). Heck I saw someone selling the UBW set 1 for 20,000 yen last night on YJA and it's not officially released until tomorrow I think.

Am waiting for a domestic Aniplex ofAmerica release of UBW but 20,000 yen for the JP import sounds really tempting.

Long story short, ordered both of the Aniplex F/Zero boxes. On top of guaranteed high quality, really want to check out the dub for it. Was going to pick priority mail but went with free economy, RS has been good at getting my stuff to me relatively quick using free shipping.

And to quickly mention, am also being lent a copy of the first disc of the UK version of Fate/Zero. I'll try posting some screenshot comparisons between it and the AoA release.
