On Walmart.com, the 2D and 3D listings with the "Collectible Round Tin" also appear to have disappeared too.

Update: the 3D edition with the round tin is still available to preorder on Walmart.com, just not as easy to find.

Jurassic World (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD) (Collectible Round Tin)

I noticed that as well. The 3D version I pre-ordered says "Limited Edition Packaging." The newly-listed 3D version does not say that. Anyone know what the limited packaging might be? Is it an Amazon exclusive?

It would've been nice to get more extras, but better than nothing I guess. I'm most interested in the six minutes of deleted scenes.

JPIII does. The other films have extensive documentaries.

if this one had a two hour doc I would accept that but its just a bunch of crappy featurettes which is a damn shame considering how much money this movie made for Universal.
Universal is really dropping the ball on this and Furious 7 .
Guess I will settle with a UV digital version then since I wont pay for a lackluster package.

Reading the descriptions it's not terrible, just about half looks good and the rest is EPK/fluff. Hopefully the Target content is worthwhile. Even a series retrospective would be nice.

I guess Universal is going to start following Sony and Disney and leave out DVD copies now. I kind of always preferred to have a DVD copy on hand but oh well. Kind of disappointed in the cover art though but hey what are you gonna do?

"IGN: Can you tell us anything about how the film will look?
We’re shooting 35mm and 65mm film. We’re also using an aspect ratio that hasn’t been seen theatrically in a very long time. The movie will be presented in 2 to 1. It’s basically a middle ground between 2.35 and 1.85. It allows us enough height to fit humans and dinosaurs into a single frame, without giving up that sense of scope. It’s very close to the ratio of the digital IMAX screens, so it will look great in large format. I think other filmmakers will want to give it a try when they see how it looks. It’s very comfortable."
Chosing an aspect ratio has got nothing to do with how a film is shot. Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master (2012) was shot in 70mm with a native 2.21:1 ratio but its release ratio was cropped to 1.85:1.
Similarly, Jurassic Park trilogy was shot mostly 35mm 4 perf full aperture, which has a native ratio of 1.33:1, basically 4:3. But its intended ratio was 1.85:1, achieved by masking the frame vertically.
Jurassic World was shot both in 35mm, most likely 3 perf (1.78:1) and 65mm 5 perf (2.21:1). One of the 65mm cameras used primarily for the VFX shots was the same one from Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, which had an aspect ratio of around 2.21:1. Some shots also utilised RED EPIC Dragon and MX variants, which have a native aspect of 1.90:1 (Digital IMAX ratio). Finally, a standard ratio of 2.00:1 was adopted for the reasons described by the filmmakers. However, choosing a 2.00:1 ratio ultimately did not make much sense in terms of an experience because the DCP carrier was flat and the movie was projected either window-boxed on a 2.39:1 screen, was cropped to 2.39:1, or was cropped to 1.85:1 for flat screens. Only the IMAX versions projected the film correctly.

"Only the IMAX versions projected the film correctly."

Not so. I work for a theater that does not have an imax, and we were able to project it correctly without any letterboxing or pillarboxing of the image, without any image loss, too.

I really don't think the cover art shown is final because Universal knows better than to change the style when it's part of an ongoing series. The Fast and the Furious Blu-Ray covers all have the same style, including Furious 7, if you go to the Blu-Ray.com page.
