According to the DVDTalk review, it doesn't. Since that promo would include Grave of the Fireflies material that is owned by a different company (GotF's book publisher Shinchosha instead of Ghibli's usual Tokuma Shoten), I don't think that would be possible.

It lists the on-disc extras as:
  • Textless Opening and End Credits (4:10, 16x9 HD) [NEW]
  • Feature-Length Storyboards (1:26:27, 16x9 HD)
  • Behind the Microphone (5:43, 16x9 HD)
  • Creating My Neighbor Totoro (3:00, 16x9 HD)
  • The Locations of My Neighbor Totoro (28:53, 16x9 HD)
  • Creating the Characters (4:25, 16x9 HD)
  • The "Totoro" Experience (1:58, 16x9 HD)
  • Producer's Perspective: Creating Ghibli (1:25, 16x9 HD)
  • Scoring Miyazaki (7:22, 16x9 HD)
  • Original Japanese Trailers (:55, 16x9 HD)

Canada Disney vs. GKIDS

Here is a chart I made of the different special features between the DISNEY & GKIDS Blu-rays. ( Will be updated if needed )

Link to my original Disney vs. GKIDS comparison chart. (makes it easier for me to update it should the need/desire arise)

Guess I'm in the minority but I can't stand subtitles. I watched some of the extras where Miyazaki was interviewed and sat through the subtitles but only because it was just for a few minutes. I keep reading how people like the new subtitles. I'm fine with the Disney dubs. Good voiceover work, a good script, all makes for a good movie. I'll likely keep what I have. No real reason to upgrade if you like the current English versions. Just need to get the few missing outer slips so everything matches!

I also prefer watching these films dubbed. (I watched Ponyo in Japanese when I first saw it and haven't since)
Though, I am happy that those who wanted accurate subtitles and finally seem to be getting what they want.
If I do double-dip on any of these it'll be the ones with new extras.

My sentiments are the same, although it is unfortunate that Kiki, so far, is the only GKids reissue that doesn't really seem to offer much improvements. It's basically the same as the Disney BD (minus the John Lasster intro), and the subtitle tracks are, unfortunately, the Streamline dub subtitles. Which itself was accurate, but there were some divergences from the original. (In all fairness, Disney's BD didn't have the Streamline dubtitles, just a different set of dubtitles, but still, accurate or not, Kiki is still dubtitled, unfortunately. My argument stands. Even the Disney DVD had the Streamline subs.)

However, the other GKids reissues seem to be fine. I just purchased Mononoke and thankfully it does indeed have literal subtitles. That WAS a problem I had with the previous release.

Ponyo and Howl also have more extras, especially the former.

I too am content with my Disney versions.

Also, worldchmps and gwfb5, nothing wrong with watching the dubbed versions. There are people who prefer the Japanese dubs, true, but there's nothing wrong with watching these movies in English, and Miyazaki said he would prefer viewers to view his movies in their language of choice. There's nothing wrong with people having preferences as long as we don't try to impose them on others.

Did anyone who ordered these from Deep Discount early get them yet? My order looks like it may be backordered, but I'm afraid I won't get them for some time.

Why are they so out of order...

I 3/6 (Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, and Spirited Away) from Best Buy today. The Spirited Away slip is the only one damaged other than a few little bends here and there which even the previous Disney slips are worse in that area and I bought them in stores. However, Spirited Away was on the bottom of the three in the packaging they use to ship. They really need some kind of customer satisfaction survey because every time I get something in these crappy brown sticky cardboard packages, something is always damaged to some degree... this isn't so bad and I've had worst from slipcovers being completely crushed to the case itself being broken in any spot possible, so I admit this isn't too bad but it's easily avoidable.

Kind of annoys me a little that it also looks like they glued it too high up on the spine lol

I didn't buy any (I'm at least trying to resist the urge to double-dip), but I did take note of a few things. #1 The BD for Spirited away doesn't have the Nippon Television Special on it (the back of the package says it's only on the DVD copy). #2 None of them have 6.1 only 5.1 or 2.0.#3 I couldn't tell for sure, but it looks like the spines would line up more with From up on Poppy Hill than any of the other Ghibli films GKIDS has previously released.

UPDATE: I found this pic on GKIDS' twitter page and it shows that the new spines line up perfectly with the more recent GKIDS releases.
Thanks for the tip! I checked my local Walmart stores and couldn't find them anywhere. I wonder if these are region specific. Were you able to see on Walmart Brickseek that your local stores have them available?

It’s a unofficial inventory checker of a few major chains (Wal-Mart, Target, etc.)

Wrong, the Disney standalone Kiki used horrible Dubtitles based on the Disney dub. The Gkids release has better Dubtitles based on an older very accurate dub. Ghibli must have really liked the old Streamline dub script because they commissioned brand new subtitles for Gauche the Cellist and Anne of Green Gables but never made any for Kiki.

The site that helps you check whether a certain product is in stock or not around your local area (though it's not 100% accurate, it still comes in handy). Just also noticed that you're in Canada, so maybe none of the US Walmart stores have them in store
