I ended up reading the first 20 issues and then the final volume took so long to come out I gave up on it. I really enjoyed what I read though, especially the MechaG army and the stuff with the Battra twins.

Idw did a really good job with Godzilla, imo. Some of their early stuff was really bad but they gave us two incredible mini series (Cataclysm and Half century war, one of the all time-best Godzilla story) and one great series (Ruler of the earth).
They rerelease the whole series of Ruler of the earth in 2 omnibus editions btw, if you're interested. That's what I went for.

Incidentally, I do have plans to make a scaled down version of the artwork when we get higher quality images of the artwork. But I'm not sure how openly I'll make it available.
Have you thought of starting a patreon? You could easily gate your covers on there and only have public images be low rez, watermarked, and/or of the cover in cases (making them basically useless for scalpers). Because I would gladly pay you for a print of a Gamera cover.

I've got the first 4 trades, so rebuying the whole book in paperback form just for what, 5 issues, seems like a waste of money to me.

If I'm going to rebuy books, I want them to be in an oversized hardcover format like all of the Marvel and DC Omnibuses I buy. Thus, I'm going to wait it out to see if IDW ever does the Godzilla series like that.

Not at all.

We're getting the original Japanese and ALL of the English dubs (every one of them, AIP, Daei commissions, Sandy Frank, and everything in between).

Also Gammera the Invincible.

Kadokawa Shoten (who owns Daiei Company and their catalog) aren't as stringent as Toho in regards to Arrow sourcing alternate audio, new transfers, and producing extras. What Kadokawa are very protective of is forms of insult jabs and parodies made of their top monster franchise, Gamera. You see, Shout Factory had the license from Kadokawa for the JPN Gamera versions they put out on DVDs back in 2010 (with English dubs too IIRC).

When Shout put out the Gamera MST3K episodes in the MST3K vs. Gamera: Volume XXI, Kadakowa were not pleased with them including parodies or the like without their concent, even though they or Daiei were not aware of the MST3k episodes at the time the US Gamera dubs were still in public domain. That lead to Shout's Gamera DVDs going OOP along with the Gamera MST3K set.

When Mill Creek issued their Gamera BDs, they didn't have any extras or the English dubs. Ether Kadokawa only made the Japanese versions available to them at the time, or Mill Creek saw what happened with Shout and didn't want to piss off Kadokawa by requesting dubs or producing things they may end up blocking.

Much as I like Criterion’s Godzilla set, I do wish they had done the same.

Has there ever been a release of a foreign language film that has included every English dubs available. I know of releases that include multiple dubs, but ones that include every dubs I've never heard of.

Some of the Lupin III movies from Discotek included all known dubs (Castle of Cagliostro is a good example).

They've only confirmed new 4K masters for the Heisei trilogy.

Since they aren't advertising what they are using, I would assume that means they are recycling the same old interlaced masters that Mill Creek released.

At the end, he mentions other tokusatsu releases would likely be forthcoming from the same deal that netted them the Gamera series, and that they aren't kaiju films. The Daimajin trilogy, and the Yokai Monsters trilogy (both from Daiei) immediately spring to mind. Arrow releases of those would be outstanding!

Didn't someone ask them about that and they said it wasn't any of them?

There was a discussion Q&A with someone who worked with Arrow on these releases and he shot those down as the titles. So those won't be happening, at least for this year. Would have loved the Yokai films including the 2005 one.

Thanks for the info. I was not aware those series had already been addressed with respect to Arrow. There wasn't anything specific mentioned in the clip above.

Well, that sucks! I'm a big fan of both of those series. The fact that Mill Creek recently had both Gamera and Daimajin would certainly lead you to believe that Daimajin would have been one of the properties.

And I guess the speculation as to what he could be referring to will continue!
