There are two subwoofer inputs on the back of the sub. One is for the Right and the other one is for the Left channel. Normally, you connect the sub cable to the left channel. However, if you get a Y adapter (2 male, 1 female) and connect the subwoofer cable to both the right and left channels, you may get an increase in the subwoofer's output.

Read my post #122. It is better than a manual.

I realize that I am half machine and half human, but the human side needs to eat, go to the bathroom, watch movies, and do other important things. The machine side is in Auto mode and falls asleep in front of the terminal from boredom.

EDIT: If the subwoofer has Big Daddy and Jomari's seal of approval, it must be great. We are waiting for JJ's approval and then we will close all other subwoofer threads.

if Bid Daddy DID work for Acoustic Audio as others have perceived, those other threads wouldve been locked a LONG time ago.

playing devils advocate, i actually feel like getting my HDSUB12 a girlfriend.

should we even bother testing this sub?

As far as review is concerned, I made my post #3 as comprehensive as possible.

These are my newest discoveries. I played everything at normal volume that I use to calibrate with my SPL meter. about (75dB to 80dB). I ran pink noise from the receiver and measured the results about 3 ft (1 meter) away from the sub. All other speakers and subwoofer were off.

Subwoofer level: 35%-40%, Loudness: 85 dB, This is the setting that I normally use in my HT room.

Subwoofer Level: 50%, Loudness: 93 dB.

Subwoofer Level: 75%, Loudness: 105+ dB.

Too chicken to increase the level any higher. I don't need another useless box in my garage.

Your 24 hours are up and I don't see any pictures of a subwoofer. We will give you a grace period to buy a subwoofer or else you will have to live with dire consequences.

But yeah, the excursion bit you have to watch for sure.
Hi I'm new here. Just wanted to comment on the woofer sagging issue. I have a pair of Sansui SP 7500X speakers I bought new in 1973. 16.5 inch woofers in them. There is no sign of any sag what so ever. I think after 36 years if they were going to sag they would have by now.

I agree. I had a 15" down-firing sub that I bought in 1990-91 and recently gave to a friend. I currently have two down-firing 12" subs that I bought in 1998. I played them a lot and there was absolutely no sign of sagging.

been actually reading most of your other postings in the Unconventional Subwoofer placement thread, but didnt bother to post into it that much. ive always considered the first few steps of building your home theater as the building blocks of what you need to learn in the process. theres a lot of research material out there (including our beloved blu-ray forum), that tackles such. your current 'crappy' (you said it not me) subwoofer, wasnt looking so good at one point, and with a couple of whims here and there, placement was able to help you find your once lost love towards it again.

its not always about upgrading your current material, but learning what or why certain things dont work with what we have.

back on topic tho, if you are looking for a new subwoofer, that
- can handle the lower frequencies better than the mainstream subwoofers
- is fairly inexpensive (compared to what you can get from commercial sellers)
- looks great as a subwoofer (with either Pine, Cherry, and/or Black) to match your current fronts.

This is definitely a starter for you. you can also consider the Dyna subs on Parts express as well as HSU researchs STF-2's as consideration, but i dont think they can hit 20hz at 88dB's...

Most likely, your subwoofer is not connected properly. It is not on. Make sure you plugged the subwoofer cable into the subwoofer left or right input on the subwoofer and the subwoofer pre-out on your receiver. Also, make sure your receiver recognizes that there is a subwoofer connected.

Make an offer. The worst that can happen is for them to reject it.

in regards to the 'sagging part' (i hate calling it that way, bad picture in my head! bad picture!), there isnt any scientific proof, but more on observation regarding such. of course, back in the day, most of the magnets used on the baffles arent as heavy as the long excursion subs that are present nowadays. ive also mentioned it a number of times its more of a theory, versus an actuality found true.

i had the same initial reaction when i first got mine, heck did the same thing you did,
- set the crossover to max
- gain higher than usual

but my performance was er... anemic. then i found out that most of the reason was because my DRM was turned on.

that aside, it might feel like its not as powerful as you'd want it to be, but giving it a couple of hours of play, and let it break in so to speak. im not quite certain if this company breaks in any of their subwoofers before issuing them out.

all in all, give it two, three days, of continuous play (at certain levels of course, dont make it bleed immediately)...

*edit - forgot to ask, maybe your receiver is set at LARGE for your speakers. check crossover settings on your receiver to see if its set right.

like a lady, you have to swoon it to get what you want.

What are your speaker calibration settings in the receiver's menu. In addition to DriverKing's & Jomari's suggestions, it is possible that your subwoofer is not calibrated properly. When you run test tones through it, can you hear it? Also increase the level on the back of the sub a little (no more than 3/4).

Please make a thread on "How to Swoon a Lady." It certainly deserves a sticky.
