Thanks bigal... I kinda meant it as a joke... In the US Energy car speakers don't exist anymore. And I would probably go with JL Audio for a car.. or perhaps speaker craft... I think in all honesty tho, I want to put a DVD player and screens in the car for the kids....

Haaa! ok well they don't here either it's the last pair available troughout Canada and I beleive last year of production was 2008.

JL is a great choice for Car Audio, I've seen some really nice 5.1 setup for the car. For my part I have 3 subs in each of my 2 cars!!!

And JL components. I strongly recommend JL Slash Series Amps for SQ.

I hooked up my C-100 to the fronts the other day and was surprised as to how well they sounded when I played Star Wars Empire Strikes Back. I think they were a little overshadowed by the C-C100 but in 2-channel they sounded pretty good. Much better then I really expected....

I want redo it and play just music and see how musical they are, I am sure they will be very good, but I have been auditioning other speakers in a hopes to see where my C-300s fall into line. I am not going to be replacing the speakers, but I really want to see what they hold up against.

You can look at my thread, speaker window shopping. It is about me and my auditioning experiences. So Far I think the Energy C-300s have been right up there with many of the speakers I have heard.

i've been using the "pure direct" mode on my yamaha a lot recently, and i can say i really have noticed the bass the c-500s can put out. i have them crossed over at 80hz and set to small, but "pure direct" cuts out all bass mgmt circuitry and lets the speakers shine. also, the newly added amp certainly makes them sound pretty good...

Yes pure direct outputs the source as is without bass managment for however many channels the source has. If your source is 2 channel audio then you'll be fine and it'll go to your L/R fronts. However you don't want to use pure direct on a 5.1 source unless your other speakers can handle the bass.

You can look at my thread, speaker window shopping. It is about me and my auditioning experiences. So Far I think the Energy C-300s have been right up there with many of the speakers I have heard.
When I was overseas in the Middle East, I was more of an audiophile. I had a Rotel preamp, Rotel power amp, and a Marantz CD player. I went through a series of speakers like KEF, Jamo, Mirage, Wharfdale, and others until I got a pair of Tannoys. I simply loved the Tannoys. Upon returning to the States I sold all my 240 V electronic components but shipped the Tannoys home.

I used the Tannoys with an Adcom CD player, pre-amp, and GFA 545 II power amp I bought after returning to the States until I got interested in HT. After not being able to find matching Tannoy speakers here in the States, I ended up buying an Energy system after auditioning speakers in local audio shops. I picked the Energy speakers because they sounded Tannoy-like, and that sold me on them.

I even used one of the Tannoys as a center to replace the C-C100 for awhile just to see how a dual concentric speaker sounded as a center speaker. It was a perfect replacement for the C-C100. I then tried the Tannoys as L/R fronts with the C-C100 in the center. That worked just as well too. At the time, I had C-200 bookshelf speakers for the L/R fronts. The C-200s sounded very close to the Tannoys, both very very musical, but the latter had a little bit better imaging IMO. For a few years the Tannoys ended up as the back surrounds until recently when I bought C-R100s for the side and back surrounds. I sold the Tannoys after that. After getting the C300s to replace the C200s, wow, what a difference. I love them for music as well as HT. I have no doubt that the C300s would have surpassed the Tannoys for listening to music and HT.

Thats the way to go love using pure direct in my case just don't have a choice anyways Thats why I saved 625$ buying the AVR-240 over the AVR-254.

Funny part is I get the same sound for a fraction of the price.

Added... so what are your plans with these speakers? I see you have RTi's so are you setting up another HT in your home or is this going to be a music room?

Congrats! The ESW V10 will no doubt give your system the bass lift that it needs.

I didn't see any RC-50s at wwstereo.com.

However, because the c-500's have an extra woofer pushing air, there is more dynamic range.
True, the specs say +2 db more / watt at 1.0 m. In a smaller room with low ambient background noise, my C-300s are phenomenal. My listening area is 20 x 15, and I think callas' is the same or slightly smaller. One can use C-500s in a small room but it's an overkill, IMO.

Towers really are generally more desirable because of their larger size (greater internal volume) and cabinet shape (with narrow baffles and deeper in depth) which yields greater dynamic range, better imaging, more clarity, and a wider soundstage (for L/R fronts). I know this to be true because I used to have a pair of C-200s as L/R fronts before I got the C-300s. The C-300s being a tower design, vastly outperformed the C-200s as I stated earlier. They have identical drivers and the same number of drivers yet not any where near identical performance. The C-200s did fairly well as side L/R surrounds though until I bought some the C-R100s bipoles to replace them.

In a larger room, say 25' x 20' or 30' x 25', I would most definitely agree that a pair of C-500s would earn their keep.

I think you would love the RC-50s no matter what you pay for them.....

What is the reason for the switch, yes to go all Energy, but do you not like the RTi's or you just like the Energy's better?

Very good reason indeed lol they look so good with their grills off too and I fo find the sound to be more balance compare to any Polk I auditionned. Sound is very subjective some people may not like Energy and like Polk but to my knowledge I think Energy is closer to the truth than Polk in Sound reproduction. You'll love your Energy

Interesting, I heard the RTi A9s, and personally was not overly impressed with them. I thought the cabinets sounded hollow and the seemed slightly brighter then the TSis. There is no way I would pay for the RTi's personally. There are so many other speakers that just blow them away.
