We should have a contest to see whose packaging is the most beat up and damaged from this new DD shipment. Or who has problems with the discs first. The winner doesn't get anything, except damaged packaging and discs. Oh, and the satisfaction of being a winner!

My X-Men set arrived from them damaged, as did my case for Dark City and Godfather. Dark City and X-men I replaced with my double cases, but the Godfather's swinging trays are broken. Funny thing about the BSG set is that it seems pretty sturdy as a box, and there's no plastic cases to crack.

I'm nervous. MY dollhouse season arrived from them a few days ago and it had been opened and then retaped back shut. I will admit the case and discs were in perfect condition, but it was a bit suspect. It was almost like somebody was all excited and ripped it open and saw it was dollhouse and was like aw man f that and then taped it back up and sent it on its way.

Received an email Friday from DD saying that my BSG had shipped. Now I only have to wait (impatiently) so that I can find out if any disc are damaged or unplayable!

Make sure you check your discs carefully. I would recommend going over each one underneath a strong light, tilting the disc in all direction while you inspect them. So far I have been through four sets, and I have only put together 17/20 discs that aren't scratched.

But unless it actually makes the discs themselves not play or skip....it's kind of a moot point, isn't it? They are always less than perfect the second you snap them out of the holder....

The vast majority of my Blu-ray Discs arrive with nary a scratch. The discs in this set however are hands-down the worst I've seen come out of a factory sealed set. When I pay $150-200 for a set, I don't think I should have to settle for something that looks like I bought it secondhand. In the end I may have to settle for a couple discs with hairline scratches however, but some of these discs I've seen have real deep scratches that are bound to give players fits if my experience with Netflix rentals has taught me anything.

You guys made me glad i didnt spring for this. I just got 4.5, cause i hated the look of the packaging. Sure, i could get custom art to put the discs in. But i dont do scratched discs either, and i sure dont do them for $200!

Someday i think they will do season sets of Galactica on Blu.

I think there may be some sort of secret rule requiring that all high definition disc releases of BSG come with scratched discs. That, or someone at the Universal plant hates BSG.

Australia I Was Lucky - No Scratches

I was lucky - mine arrived from Amazon US to Australia with no scratches at all. That said - the Cyclon figurine was damaged - can't win them all I guess.

Mine was mailed by DD on 8/21 and arrived today 8/26. Just 1 scratched disc which wouldn't play in my PS3 but I checked quickly and found that it would play on my Panasonic DMP-BD30. Still, I think the packaging for the disc really stinks (being polite because a number of other "S" words came to mind) and I will have to give some thought about getting a replacement for that one disc since I've only recently started trying BD-Live (and my PS3 is my only blu player which will handle this feature). However, overall thus far I'm not too disappointed with this purchase since I managed to buy it for $151.27 shipped! Now I have many hours to fill watching what IMO was one of the best scifi series made for television. Yeah!!

In addition to the packaging, there is an audio glitch that only applies to a small number of receivers (mine is a Pioneer). I will post a new thread about it, but the workaround is to send the audio as PCM to the receiver.

Mine was shipped out on 8/21 and arrived yesterday. After a thorough screening, none of my discs were scratched nor was my box damaged. Guess I got really lucky.

The real reason that Season 4 got split into 4.0 & 4.5 was so that Universal could save money, the disc ID's from the complete series match the disc ID's from the 4.5 set
