Hey guys,

"IF", that's a big if. What if I wanted to upgrade my front speakers (C-200) to tower speakers. Mainly just my front. Would my C-Series sound okay or do I need to upgrade everything to match up?

I got a pair of Lava subs 10". I'd recommend them to anyone.

Their $399 special is dead though, but you can shoot them an email to see if they would offer it to you.

That sucks. I just looked. They were only sold out of the LSP12's last week. I guess I took the last LSP10's.

But when I was talking to Lava last week. They are expecting more very very soon.

I think if you order them, you get a slight discount since they are back ordered. Check the cart when you proceed to check out.

It is highly unlikely that they will make more black ash sub10 (according to the e-mail I got from them) and at the price of satin black I rather get the ED A3S-250.

I wonder if Lava would honor the 15% off for mentioning blu-ray.com and than still give me the 5% off for back ordering.

Indeed.

I wonder how 2 12" subs would sound like.

How about the BIC F-12? It seems to have positive reviews everywhere I look and the price is under $200.

Does the x-over on a sub rob power the way a mechanical speaker x-over does?

the F-12 does have a lot of positive reviews. From that Id take it as a good sign. I think Dr Hsu helped to design that sub with them, if so itd be a good sub also.

No, just turn the crossover on the back of the sub to its max position, then use the crossover in the receiver to set the speakers crossover.

So, if my fronts and center are set to 80hz then what do I want my sub at?

All the way to the highest setting which will in effect disable the cross over, unless the highest setting on your sub is 80Hz or less but that is highly doubtful.

I mean on the receiver not the sub itself.

So, you have a receiver with electronic x-over for the sub? I'm not familiar with that, sorry.

I thought that there is a seperate x-over for the sub when you callibrate through the receiver. I don't know because I have never hooked up a sub. I guess I'm ignorant on the subject but, I thought that's how it worked from reading these posts. I guess I will find out when my sub arrives and I hook it up. Sorry about that.

No, to the best of my knowledge the receiver only has crossovers for front, center, and surround. All the frequencies below the set receiver crossovers go to the subwoofer or the front speakers if they are set to "Large" and a subwoofer is absent.
I'm still trying to get a firm grip on all this info so I don't know if I got this right.

depends on the bass management of the receiver, some receivers will ask for the LPF of LFE, set that to 80 hz, and the crossover on the speakers to 80 hz when set to small, then on the back of the sub, turn the crossover dial to the max position, typically about 120 hz.

If your receiver doesn't have an LPF of LFE, then don't worry about that, and just set the speakers to small and the crossover to 80 hz, or up or down depending on what you like the best.
