Creating a dark room is no great feat no matter how complex some of us try to make it. It's not like I have never experienced a pitch black room before. Painting a room entirely black IS depressing and has far too much permanence. I am not looking to become a barrow wight entombed in its mound or to join the ranks of the mole people.

Closing the blinds and turning off excess lights is more than sufficient with most TVs. There is no need to hire an undertaker to do the interior decorating. TVs are capable of providing great results in a wide array of viewing environments, so there is no need to watch a movie inside of a mausoleum.

I very much like being able to return the room to a far more cheerful look when I am finished watching a movie. Crypt decor is not for me.

A room with windows is a mortal sin. No "dedicated home theater" for you. You may as well be a TV watching soundbar listening peon like most of the unwashed masses.

Yeah, the inflatables never nag, do they?

No man, my HT doesn’t have windows. My living room does.

Hence my ‘best of all worlds’ comment.

What a to know!

Have you also treated the room to be as dark as a well digger's arse? You gotta be all in with the indoctrination or your HT card will be burned faster than a feminist's bra.

Do you do your yoga exercises in there, too?

So much for having a single purpose dedicated home theater; you have made it into a dining area, too. May as well do anything in there now. The dedication is gone.

Biggest consolation prize no discussion of Apple TV + awards.
I have never owned an Apple anything and I plan to keep it that way.

Sounds more like a multi-purpose family room, but one with a very depressing decor: The Addams Family room.

How did you get that gif of my family in my HT?

I'm not a car guy so I often chide the guys I work with about their expensive sports cars and their associated costs.... but believe me a totally blacked out room with big black speakers is a thing of beauty to me... more than any Lamborghini could ever be...

I'm fine with a totally blacked out room for the watching of a movie. I just don't want the room to remain (mostly) black afterwards.

My room is very dark but not blacked out like some do. Have black ceiling (acoustical tiles) dark burgundy drapes and dark plum carpet. All lights, neon's, display boxes, seasonal decorations, etc. when watching content is off. All on (as in picture) while music listening. Picture brighter than real life.

Point, a dark room can be appealing with mood lighting, for real neon's and other lighted devices. I do have X-10 controlling all this stuff so just one button push required for different modes of operation.

Yeah, I was just jesting. I have the ultimate respect for the opposite sex. I’m surrounded by strong woman having a mother, two sisters and several female friends who are in my eyes, awesome. Even exes I have no bad feeling towards. I even have one of them tattooed on my person.

If only I didn’t love my own company so much and be against having kids, my life would probably be very different. Can’t help who you are though I guess.

I actually have the ultimate respect for individuals that do not bend to societal pressures to settle down and bring kids into this world (especially from our generation where that pressures was greater than it is now)...

I'm absolutely the happiest married person I've ever known, and I do not believe in the institution anymore...LOL..

At 23 , I once left a doctor's office fuming because he refused to refer me for a vasectomy. I was with my first wife and we KNEW that neither of us ever wanted kids. Only sheer lazinessand procrastination kept me from reporting him..

When I met my second wife just 3 years later we knew we wanted a family together right from the get go...

I've always told my kids that their education would be 100% paid for. When it comes to buying a home, they'll get all that I have...but I will not pay one red cent for a wedding. I'd have no problem with them never marrying... It is just such a mistake for so many emotionally, materially and financially...

Cat People UHD BD & BD
: watched a few minutes of the BD and the video was a good step up from the DVD. Unfortunately, the two track audio (Dolby Stereo) is almost mono, just like the previous BD and IPTV versions . Will learn how to combine BD video with DVD audio using MKVToolNix.
Halfway through and I am enjoying it much more than Yellowstone. Well shot with a great score. Acting is much better as well as there are no annoying child actors in this one. The way he shot a river crossing in episode 4 was brilliant.
