Watched the new THOR movie with my kids last night....It wasn't as bad as I was dreading. The parts I didn't sleep through looked and sounded AWESOME! The DD+ ATMOS track had an amazing 3D quality soundfield with plenty of low end. It also had some beautifully rendered dark scenes that showed off how well the JVC can produce inky blacks WITHOUT crush....there was not a hint of compression artifacts or macro blocking..... Which makes me even more crazy that SHUDDER presentations look so bad on my setup....

When assessing the quality of streaming, the provider seems to be the most important factor..

Seems like this series is before Golum's time.

No. None of the characters from the films are here. This is taking place in second age. Only Galadriel is in it, when she was young.

Nice that there will be 10 episodes, the same as last series. Plenty to enjoy.

I don’t buy continuing series on Blu-ray anymore. I learnt my lesson after getting burnt with American Horror Story and Killing Eve amongst others. Owning every series but the last one is incredibly frustrating.

I focus on films and limited tv series/one off specials etc..

I didn’t buy a huge amount of tv shows previously, to be honest. My main focus is film in terms of collecting.

You act like you're a big supporter of physical media but you don't buy the type of physical media that needs the most support (TV shows). You're ruining TV shows in the same way that you constantly accuse others of ruining movies.

And by the way the last season of Killing Eve is available on Blu-ray:

I don’t ‘act’ at all. I’m buying Blu-ray and UHD by the bulk, last time I checked, that was supporting disc.

The money saved from not buying multiple seasons of shows goes towards more films on disc.

I’m not going to spend my money on several seasons only to not be able to access the final or ongoing seasons. Two years later, no follow ups with AHS. There have been two seasons since then.

Not going to let that happen again. I still buy limited series and old shows, as well as one offs. So even then, I haven’t stopped buying tv shows, but why would I want to own half or three quarters of a show? I’m a collector not a mug.
That Killing Eve you linked is locked to region A.

If anyone is ruining it, it’s the studios for blocking access to these shows.

I agree, locked is a bad idea, just makes people spend more for unlocked players.

Unlocked blu-ray players are quite inexpensive at least here in the U.S.

Alternatively, there are also plenty of software options that allow discs to be ripped to whatever and in the process of doing so the region locking is removed.

Anyone who wants complete region freedom can easily obtain it. Having access to all discs globally is simply awesome.

I don't really care how you spend your money, but foregoing TV show purchases because of ONE TV series not being completed on disc is kind of silly. It could still happen, too. American Horror Story could be licensed out at some point or completed by the studio that owns it.

I own quite a few TV shows and I have been able to buy the complete series in the vast majority of instances. The number of TV series that I could not complete I can count on one hand.

The point is, this is only going to be a growing factor going forward. Would rather put most of my spare money into films.

You also have added taxes through importing and customs for discs. It’s far cheaper to get region B from Germany, Spain, France for titles that don’t come out here.

You're always worried about what MIGHT happen instead of what actually is happening. Far and away most TV shows on disc are offered in their entirety even now. American Horror Story is by far the exception and not the rule.
