Though I received it a few months ago, I finally got around to watching the SLV cut tonight and it was lovely. If you were on the fence about this one (understandably due to the way too high price) I would definitely snap it up if you're able to catch it on sale.

Is there any link detailing the differences from this version?

And yes, I’m old school enough to use that term. That is just too small a display.

I have a Sony 2017 75” TV in the lounge room and I will take it with me to the grave (I’m old enough that that’s not too far away) - the last of the great back-lit Sonys. Not as good as your Master Drive but damn close, 1400+ nits.

It is no match for my projector. No match at all. Let’s end it here. I see no DNR on the DE, and I know DNR. I was reviewing DVDs by the hundreds back in the 90’s for a website in Australia, and I pointed out DNR back then when I saw it.
I'm late to this conversation, but I definitely see DNR on the DE. I sit about 9.5 feet back from a 9 foot wide scope screen. With that said, I feel it was reasonably mild (outside of a few scenes) for my taste. I would have preferred it even milder, but it's ok knowing what they wanted to accomplish with it (context key). I actually like the overall disc and cut. It's my 'go-to' for the film at this point. I don't own the SLV, but you can look at the theatrical version and clearly see more grain. If not, something is wrong.

Don’t you understand? The DNRfinder General hath decreed there’s no DNR there and he should know because he used to review DVDs 25 years ago. Or something.

Can anyone confirm that the iTunes digital version is the same edition as the new 4K disc? Thanks.

Got this special boxset for Xmas, finally watching the SLV. I keep expecting the new FX but I'm getting back into the right mindset for this version.
The Enterprise is leaving the spacedock and that filming model is still so beautiful.

I think I may have a original Star Trek 4K addiction.

Yeah, you can never have to many Trek releases. I'd definitely grab the Steelbooks too if they release them.

Now that this is harder to come by I can see that the French edition is a little cheaper. Did we ever confirm whether that contains the SLV?. I know the German doesn't but couldn't find anywhere in this thread confirming one way or another on the French set.

Mine played fine on a PS5, no freezing.

I don't recall any issues with the sound. I think I forced it into DPL and I always have subtitles on for dialog, but I think it was decent for what it was.

I got an email from Paramount saying my replacement disc would arrive in a few weeks.
I just got the set over Christmas and have been having a similar issue. Who did you reach out to? I wasn't sure if I should try Paramount directly or ask person who gave it to me where they bought it so I could try that method.

How is the sound on the SLV? I believe it's 2.0 stereo but I forgot if anybody said the sound was solid.
Thanks if you know!
I have the UK release of The Director's Cut Complete Adventure I did not have any freezing in regards to SLV

Have you tried the usual clean the 4K UHD disc with a fiber cloth
UHD discs are lot more senstive to fingerprints and residue from packaging

UHD Discs in general can look ok when first inspected but sometimes still need a clean with fiber cloth

Don't take it personal, but a thought keeps coming to mind as I stroll through some of the postings, and yours is where I stopped and decided to type something.

There are some of us who see what some others are posting, and at our age, are thinking: can you imagine the estate sale that will be there when they get older, have a home full of (hoarders) piles and piles of stuff, and someone asked them how much money they spent over the decades and they reply "I don't know but I'd probably be a millionaire if I had saved it all."
And by the time some get old enough to see discs all over the place, for sale... remember the young ones of today who ask "who were The Beatles?"

Again, don't take it personal, okay?
