If your receiver doesn't have an LPF of LFE, then don't worry about that, and just set the speakers to small and the crossover to 80 hz, or up or down depending on what you like the best.
either that or set it to bypass if their is a by pass switch on it.

Hey Big AL87

As I have heard from many Energy sub owners from 8.3-10.3 subs that thier blue led burned out sometime after owning the sub. Mine dimmed for a few days and burned out some time last year. does yours still light up?

Also i had a look at your gallery. How is your rainmaker center channel mounted? is it on a shelf on the wall? i have wanted to mount my rc-lcr over the tv since i got it but its too far out from the wall as the tv is mounted to the stand. I gotta make my own gallery some day.

K-Fed First Off thanks ffor rating my gallery, My 10.3 has never had issue with the Led, All I can say what you state about this is true they had problems after they moved production to China maily, where was yours made? Mine was made in Canada.

The Center is mounted on a shelf I custom made for the furniture on which the TV is, I stained it the same color of the furniture and Voila.

Has to be. I can take a picture and show it to you, On my C-Series speaker speakers tho was saying designed in Canada, made in China.

Even Worse I have heard that Klipsch has been baught by Audovox now so prepare for the worse, I don't think I'll ever look into Energy speakers again even if I loved them so much.

maybe youre right.... I just looked at my C-50, and it said designed and engineered in CAD, then under the serial number off to the side it says Made in China....

Maybe that is what my C-300 said also and I just didn't see it....

so when Energy got taken over from API by Klipsch is that when production moved off shore? all my RC series are designed and enginenered in Canada but a little sticker under the bottom set of connectors says made in China. all bought in mid to late '07 (except the 2nd pair of RC-R bought last Sept. but were on clearance as they were on demo for at least a year maybe more and last pair)

I noticed it and I think it was assembled at the end of 2005.

For those who have speakers on stands. How do you prevent them from being knocked over?

Use blu tack or a similar product on the speaker stand top plate( this will keep the speaker attached to the speaker stand ). Use a quality speaker stand with a wide weighted base plate. A hollow pillar speaker stand can also be filled with shot or sand to increase stability. Believe it or not, a bookshelf speaker on a quality speaker stand can be stable as or more than a floor standing speaker. I gave my VTI stands to my brother to use with some Polk Monitor 40 speakers. I'm currently using the Wood-Tech stands in my living room, no problems with tipping.

Default port plugs

Other than the fact of if my speakers were stuffed into a bookshelf or cabinet (which they are not) is there any point to usiing the port plugs? does anyone know what freq. range they cut out or do they just muffle everything

I would not suggested to put the speaker into a bookshelf it would make the sound change and make it sound like it's in a box. Regardles of if you are using the port plug or not. The port plug is efficient if you have to place the speaker closer to the wall period.

2 of my 3 rear speakers are in a built-in bookshelf, I use the port plug in one, the other is set so that there is plenty of breathing room.

Yeah I get you on that it's just not ideal but it sure hlps to use it in the case you have no choice. Anyhow this kind of placement is usually not recommended, not as bad when it's the surrounds tho.

I know you know the rules.

its probably not ideal, but theyre surrounds, and I have them setup so that the speakers stick out of the bookshelf One, the SL speaker is angled into the listening area and sticks out about 2 inches the other is about 1 inch outside the bookshelf it isn't actually in the bookshelf, imaging is outside of the bookshelf wall. I have them setup the best a Bookshelf speaker in a bookshelf could possibly be.
