The Killing

Although the right answer is "Both"

4) Kiss me Deadly

I know they're different and I won't be disappointed with any of them, but I've hit a wall and can't make up my mind.
I've seen all of them except CHE. I think the best bang for the buck is Carlos (film is over 5 hours) then Night of the Hunter (feature plus 2 hour making of doc). Kiss Me Deadly's extras aren't plentiful but it's a great noir.

Well, I ended up ordering

1) Night of The Hunter
2) The Killing
3) Kiss Me Deadly

I went a little over budget. The budget is what I was allowing myself to spend not actually something that was necessary...I should know by now that never works.

Big "ditto" on that Beta Man!

However, if faced with a Sophie's Choice, I'd go with The Killing because that set also includes Killer's Kiss...which might be the only Blu-ray release either of these early Kubrick films receive.

EDIT: Oooops, looks like ry35an made the "right" choice after all. If it's any consolation during your week of Cup-'O-Soup for dinner ry35an, there's not a dog in that bunch, and two of them are premium sets.

Kudos to those that got in before they changed the prices. I hope they do not cancel those orders, as you guys made out nicely.
I had (7) BDs in my shopping bag and was going to "buy" them later today. They canceled orders the last time this happened, so unfortunately, I think they will do the same thing this time.

I'm still waiting for a cancellation of my MoC "Silent Running" at 3.33 BSP...just a matter of time.

Don't have Kiss Me Deadly yet, but those are the titles I would have gone with. KMD is coming next big sale, as there were others I wanted more at this point.

I broke my rule of not upgrading DVDs to BD big time. Pre-ordered 12 Angry Men, Rules of the Game and Fanny and Alexander, which I all owned on DVD, and got me Island of Lost Souls and Phantom Carriage on top. November is gonna be an expensive month if you add Blue Velvet and Touch of Evil...

Kiss Me Deadly (but both are essential noir titles for fans of the genre)

Always good to see another fan of Film Noir here. Enjoy them.

Nope. Their DVD library isn't uniform, either. Never has been. In fact, the blu-ray packaging for Dazed is exactly the same packaging the DVD had, only blu sized.

Yeah retablo, why are some folks so OCD about those plastic cases?

All of my Criterion Blu's are first edition, just the way the label released them. I actually like the funky variations in packaging...makes them look like a real library*!

* ...and not to put too fine a point on it, but unless there was some authoring or manufacturing error, Criterion 1st Editions have almost always been more sought after by collectors in the after market.

Well I don't understand it, but to each his own, I guess. But when someone refuses to buy a movie because it's in different packaging, then they are buying for the package, not the film. That's when I laugh at them and call them all sorts of names.
