There can be a film that excels in terms of acting, editing and cinematography, but if it fails as a story and especially in terms of emotional investment, you can bet that I'll call it a bad movie. If I don't care what is happening, then all the positives become minuscule compared to the much bigger problems.

This doesn't necessarily relate to Spectre, as I enjoyed it fine, but I completely understand people's problems with it.

If I were to rank the Craig Bond films, it would be as follows:

1. Casino Royale
2. Skyfall
*Although I regularly rotate those two depending on my mood.*
3. Spectre
4. Quantum of Solace

Here's an interesting article I read today on Entertainment Weekly. It discusses a theory that somewhat works out in consideration of Spectre's ending. Spoilers are abound so beware if you haven't seen the movie.

http://www.ew.com/article/2015/11/10/spectre-ending

To sum it up,
[Show spoiler]everything after Bond's torture in Blofeld's lair is a dream.

I couldn't stop smiling in the theater, I was so happy that the series is finally back to where it was before Craig took the role. If Bond 25 continues this path I'll have zero complaints about Craig's portrayal.

I know that people have criticisms and I'm not dismissing them, but to me, this movie is what the series is about. Skyfall and especially Casino Royale are great films and I like them very much. But Spectre, to me, is a great Bond film. I could not be happier with how it turned out.
I know what you mean. For some reason, I feel like that classic formula doesn't work as well in a more grounded and serious universe that Craig's bond occupies. When the Bond-ness started rearing its head in this film in the beginning, I was excited. However, as it kept going, it just didn't jive with me. Something felt off about the mix we got. They "crossed the streams" so to speak. At least some people dug it.

It's certainly not terrible imo, but definitely underwhelming.

The stuff about
[Show spoiler]surveillance
, yeah a little. Also a bit of a Mission: Impossible vibe at the end, with
[Show spoiler]the whole team getting in on the action for a bit
. Neither influence bothered me so much.

If you mean vibe as in Spectre was also one of the best films of that year, then yeah.

However, I can see the comparisons when we're talking about
[Show spoiler]another organization trying to take down MI6 (like Hydra in TWS),
, as well as
[Show spoiler]Bond being connected to someone from his past, who winds up trying to kill him (Bucky/Winter Soldier in TWS)
.

Bingo. That's what I was getting at. Not a complaint though.

Yup. No complaints from me either on the matter. Even scarier to the comparison I made,
[Show spoiler]Bond decided against killing Blofeld, much like how both Steve and Bucky ultimately refused to kill one another
. Coincidence or not, it's interesting to think about.

I've already decided that I wanna cosplay as James Bond by wearing his Day of the Dead disguise.

I saw the decision
[Show spoiler]to not kill Blofeld as more of a callback to the end of Quantum of Solace when Bond refrains from killing Vesper's boyfriend. Blofeld and Vesper's boyfriend seem like the two people Bond would most want to kill and he doesn't. He exercises his "license to not kill." In both scenarios Bond has this sort of redemption as if he's been freed of some type of burden.

Just saw it and thought it was very good. A little long and definitely on the dark side but enjoyable. No one actor that I can recall ever played "" twice, what will the future bring?

OK haven't seen the film, but I don't get what's wrong with the song. Seems OK to me.

Compared to others and the hype, I was letdown with the song. Upon seeing it with the films opening credits it worked a lot better.

His falsetto was atrocious. He's (slightly) better than that in his other songs. The song itself and the lyrics are fine, which is why the video posted earlier of the girl covering the theme works much better.

After hearing the song when it was first released, I thought it was okay, but nothing I cared about one way, or the other. Before seeing the film I heard about how atrocious the credits sequence was. So going in with all that in mind, I found myself liking the sequence and song together more than I expected to. I might've hummed it a few times since last Friday.
