What do you mean by taken over? I didn't see Locke's body being reanimated as much as a physical impersonation of him. With Christian Shepard's body it may be a different story, it was missing from the coffin by the time Jack found it. However with Christian's ability to be in various places like the ship, the wheel of time room, etc. he appeared to be more of a visual manifestation. He even said he couldn't help Locke in the wheel room which I took to be a physical limitation more than a required task for Locke to overcome on his own.

Jacob is dead, long live Jacob! I think Jacob is not dead, the whole scenario of Ben stabbing him was for show. There is no way for us to know who or what is immortal or even physical in this show. I am not even convinced that Juliette is dead or the bomb was triggered.

I believe that Smokie or Jacob's rival is impersonating all the dead people on the Island. Remember when the smoke alarm went off just before Jack saw his Dad. I believe that was because Smokie was in the room. In the case when Locke saw both Christian and Claire, I think they were both impersonating them. I think Smokie and Jacob's rival has been in cahoots all along to kill Jacob. I think Jacob found his own loophole when He touched Ben and will now be impersonating Ben. Who knows? I haven't been right about any of my theories on this show, yet.

I think the bomb was the incident, just like Miles said. I think season six will open with Fight 815 crashing just like before. It's going to be a long painful wait for season six to get here.

He means the same way Locke isn't actually Locke at the end of Season 5; he's the guy in black on the beach who wants to kill Jacob at the start of the finale.

But Jesse757x was talking about the original wheelchair Locke when he referenced the rain prediction and tying up Boone. Now there is a Locke body in a casket as well as the one that led Ben to stab Jacob. That would be a reanimation in the first case and an impersonation in the second case? Christian seems to be a different scenario on some levels, he doesn't hang around with the group, just appears at certain times, and anywhere.

I don't remember the smoke alarm scene, what season was that? And the idea of opening season 6 with a replay of season 1 would be sort of Donny Darko, pretty cool and saves them production time and cost!

Long time to wait to find out. BTW I picked up season 1 and 2 on Blu-ray at Costco and they gave me a $20 discount! Now to find time to watch them, we need to get started on reanalyzing the beginning of this show.

The smoke alarm didn't go off, it was beeping because the battery needed to be replaced.

Lightbulb Locke's Eyes

I am not going to read back through to see if anyone noticed this, but I was watching season 1 on blu last night, and on disk 3, episode 2 I think, in Claire's dream she sees Locke and when he looks at her, one eye is white and one is black. With everyone talking about Jacob and "Essau" and them wearing black and white, and the backgammon black and white reference early in season one, I was blown away when I saw those eyes. It shows that the Island and possibly "Essau" chose Locke from the beginning, and more over it may show that the writers were pretty focused on the end game early on. Not a big deal, and has no bearing on the future, but I though it was cool. It was something I never noticed before, and if I did I thought nothing of it.

No, he didn't die in the crash. Over the past 5 seasons, we've been presented with many scenes from Locke's perspective. Scenes where he is alone discovering things, scenes where he is dreaming, scenes where he breaks down and questions his purpose. These are all the real John Locke. It would make no sense at all for it not to be. He didn't die until Ben killed him in the hotel room, but he was being manipulated and led along a path right from the get go.

Yeah, I noticed that, but didn't know what it meant until now. I still think Aaron has to come into play some how. I can't believe that they would make him seem so important, and then just drop him off at his Grandmothers and be done with the character.

Yep, also, in a flashback at Penny's house, there is a black and a white stone on the table, the same as when Jack finds a black and a white stone in a bag on the "Adam and Eve" corpses.

Black and White is just a universal reference to "Good and Bad". A theme that has been blurred with the characters decisions since the first episode, it could have no intentional relevance to the new characters and plot line that developed later on. You could easily tie in anything they threw at you to have "Black and White" as a reference. To be honest I think Jacob was an afterthought, we heard no mention of him until Season 3.

Could be. They did say that they were making up part of the plot as they went along. Although he does seem too significant for that to be the case. I think he was probably created from the very start.

It was a damn good after-thought if that's true though!

Yeah, but up until we saw Jacob, we were lead to believe Ben was the most important bad guy...and he was originally only supposed to be in 3 episodes, but they shifted his role because they enjoyed his acting so much.

That got me to thinking. Do you guys think the show would be as good without Ben (Michael Emerson)? Ben is probably my favorite character on the show. The scene where Alex gets killed is probably one of my favorite scenes because of Michael Emerson's acting.

I agree with that for the most part. Emerson is a very good actor. I'm watching season 2 now and watching him convince Sayid that he's not an "other" is just I remember the first time seeing it I thought he really was Henry Gale and I felt bad for him..

Ha! I remember thinking the exact same thing. What a fool I was. But kudos to Michael Emerson for being such a great actor.

I honestly didn't have a clue. Once he said his little speech to Jack and Locke though at the end of that episode, I was sold. Sayid was definitely right at that point.
