So how long have you had your new front sound stage for now ?

Are you enjoying the RC-50 and the LCR?
I have had the new fronts for a little under a week now. I do like it but I am not sure if I have them calibrated right. I ran the mcaac but it now seems the receiver needs to be turned up higher then before to get the same loudness that I got from my Polks. I do think the quality of the sound is better then the Polks. When I ran the mcaac it boosted the left and right to +7.5 db which I thought was to high so I turned it down to +2.5. I really don't think I understand the settings with the vsx-01 receiver.

Those auto calibration sometimes do funny things look your center is at even distance from the listener if you look at the efficiency of the RC-50 and the LCR I would think the cneter should have more gain that the RC-50. The other thing is the Energy are alot more laid back than the polk and should open up a bit more, they certaily reveal more details altho they will never fatibue your ears with long intense music listening sessions.

I would put the Towers at 0db and the center around +1db I think this auto calibration thing is off it only does it with tones at specific frequency, I never really liked it personnally. I have my front 3 at 0db and all my ronts have the same efficiency so it's perfect.

The other thing is that music sounds really bad!! I played some music that I have on my ps3 and it was very tinny sounding and the sub sounded funny. Should I have a different setting when I listen to music?

Audio Advisor is having the RC-30 Tower Speakers on sale for $199 each.

If I wanted to. Would these front speakers be okay with my Energy C-Series setup (C-200, CC-100, C-100)?

OMG this is absolutely not normal it should blow the polk away, I just don't see what is happening here, what is the format or media you put in your PS-3 to play music?

The other thing is are you listening to music over an HDMI cable, maybe you have some restriction due to the X-over on the receiver, so many possibilities.

I strongly recommend using quality analog cables when listening to music a pair of RCA cables.

Yes you could get an LCR as your center down the roaud but would match fairly well to your C-100 in terms of tone.

Surrounds don't have to match perfectly and your C-200 would be great surrounds speakers and you could use 2 C-100 as back surrounds. Most important is to match the front 3 for seamless transition and tryly the tone is simlar with both speakers RC-30 will outperform the C-200 by a few miles for music, in HT they should reveal more details. You need a good ear to distinguish the subtleties in the sound and listen to tem side by side withthe C series and you will realize the RC-30 are great speakers.

At 400$ for the pair it's a fantastic bargain, I don't want to push you to buy them it's really up to you but I would try to find the matching center.

Thanks as always since you're a big help. I was afraid that I would also have to upgrade the CC, but I guess I'll wait. I've spent plenty already in upgrades, and I already have a good HT with my 2 Lava subs.

I guess when I'm ready to upgrade. I'll change everything and start from scratch.

You might as well wait now and keep the 400$ for future serious upgrades.

I have the music downloaded on the ps3. I am now listening to a cd on my sony blu ray player (1000es) and it does sound the same way. I changed the rcvr to ext stereo and it sounds better but the music is coming out of all 5 of my speakers. I really just want two channel along with the sub (2.1) I am using hdmi. I have used analog cables before when I had a Pio 51fd but it wouldn't use the sub Im at a loss

I would try analog cables in pure direct once at least to see what it does.

It's hard to help you as I am not there with you to hear what you hear right now with the RC-50.

Try to set the receiver to 2 channel stereo and see what comes out of there.

I would jump on that. In their heyday, the RC-30s were $1399.00/pair retail when I got them in 2007 although i didn't have to pay that much.

One thing you have to understand is that Energy speakers, and many other need some break in time. That will loosen the drivers and open up the mid-range. The Tinny sound you hear could also be associated with the fact that you are used to the polks silk dome tweeters and so the aluminum tweeters may sound a little metallic. Another thing, the sound of Energy is more musical and less bright sounding, you may not be used to that sound.

what sounds so bad about them?

There isn't any bass when I play music. I have tried with a cd and through my ps3. Music was much fuller with my Polks. I know that the speakers need break in time but music just sounds bad. Regular tv and movies sound good...better then the Polks. In this case the 50's sound fuller deeper then the Polks.

when you want to listen to music seriously go into the music settings and make sure its set to 44hrts you will get much better sound but you wont be able to back out of the music player and browse the web like you can on the 48hrts setting but the music has a whole lot more bass and clarity
