I've actually preferred the casting changes Marvel made. Ruffalo as Banner was much better, and I also liked Cheadle as Rhodey over Howard.

People think that opening dance sequence fell flat? Oh. Everyone in my theatre laughed out loud, especially as the film brought a whole new meaning to "cold open" just moments before. I guess as far as big studio productions go, Guardians is very original, which is bound to alienate those who've long since relaxed into the Marvel formula.

It was a great and perfect way to start the movie. It tells you exactly what you're in for. Not only was it fun and funny, it's fresh. People talk about how these films are "put out on an assembly line" (I disagree), but I've never seen a comic book movie start out that way. I loved it.

Because as a film fan, when you see trailers that interest you, you want to see if they're good or not. Doesn't matter if it's WB, Marvel, or whomever. If a film generally interests you based on previews, don't you want to know if the film lives up to the preview?

It's what some of us did with this film. Generally, I thought this film is going to be right up my alley and unfortunately, it didn't even come close to delivering on the promise.

It is what it is. I hated it like a few here did. The majority of you guys liked it. Move on to the next film to voice our opinions on.

I read this everywhere it's is a stupid position to even take because it's almost factually wrong.

I wish I had the link but do you know how many references Nolan put into his Dark Knight Trilogy based on Batman comics? It's ridiculous how much stuff from the comics is packed in those three films. I mean for Christ sake's, did you think we'd get a Lazarus Pit when he made Batman Begins? And yet, there it is in RISES. It may not be exact but that's exactly what he's referencing.

I don't think MAN OF STEEL is ashamed of its root when it opens it's film with a 20 minute sequence that's a bat nuts crazy interpretation of Krypton, the likes of which we've never seen on screen before but has been reference in some of the comics.

I'll give you GREEN LANTERN but even that one embraced a lot of it. It just didn't embrace it to the level that hardcore fans of this genre wanted it to. But, it did.

I could go on but you get the point.

WB/DC does it. They just do it differently. It doesn't make it wrong or right. Just differently than what Marvel does.

There is a certain kind of magic that some movies have that makes them into mega blockbusters . When that kind of magic gets many people to walk out from a movie and get right back in line to see it again then you know that movie is special . Is GOTG that kind of movie ? I think it may be and we will know soon .

I have a feeling the drop off for this movie wont be as big as the standard drop off. Word of mouth on this movie is go see it even if you don't like Marvel, most of the 80's fans will get the subtle references in the movie. I think opening weekend wont be huge but next weekend will make up for it.

I agree. Word of mouth and repeat viewings are gonna fuel the shit out of this one. Hell, i'm seeing it for a third time today. Plus, I think most people are finding it refreshing that there is finally a different kind of Marvel movie out. Personally, i was so burnt out on seeing the same characters over and over and over again. Not to mention, this is just loads better than all of the other Marvel movies that have come out in the past couple of years, with the exception of maybe Winter Soldier.

May have been discussed already, but for the part of
[Show spoiler]Nathan Fillion it just says monstrous inmate (on IMDB). Would that be the big blue guy who messes with quill before groot steps in?
Just wondering...
