Hmmmm....It is set to 48khz and the only other option is 96khz. This is in the 1000es blu ray player. Were you talking about the ps3?

Steve thanks for taking over to help in resolving this enigma with the RC-50 I did try something from my sister's place I felt bad about this as those RC-50 are fabulous speakers. It's really odd.

it might not, I cannot open PDF files at home.... so I would think if you had that feature you would know about it.

have you set the speakers to large and de-activated the sub using pure direct to see if the bass in there in the speakers? if the bass is there then it has to do iwht the bass manangement, otherwise there could be something wrong with the speakers, or wiring.

I agree with the wiring could the OP post a pic of it that would help. I don't understand the Op has the same type of connectors on the Monitors tho.

Ok this is a shot in the dark. I have my speakers bi wired. I'm not sure if I have them wired properly. I am wondering if this could be the problem. I have the left and right speaker terminals connected to the back of the rcv with banana plugs. The other end goes to the top set of the binding posts. I then have another set of cables that go to my surround back terminals then to the bottom binding posts of the speakers. I hope this makes sense. BTW movies sound great!!

?????????

I'm not sure i understand this well please take a pic seriously i will see if anything is wrong and I recommend you to try pure direct no X-over or try setting the speakers to large during music listening and turn off the sub.

On my Denon, I have direct and pure direct (the display doesnt even light up) Those settings automatically turns the fronts to large and turns the sub off (normally x-overed at 80hz) and my RC-30's have full range sound with bass that makes me wonder how a 5.25" woofer(s) can do that. Your RC-50's should be even more so with a lower usable bass response with the 6.25" woofers. I use my PS3 as my audio player using hmdi connectionas i beleive you also said you do.

you mean they are bi-amped.

Connect the ones from the Front L/R to the bottom post then connect the ones for the SB's to the Highs..... if you want, also get out your brass binding post bridges, and just connect the Front L/R cables to the bottom and only have them single wired.....

Indeed they drive great bass and well controlled with a very linear sound and a great soundstage.

in general, passive bi-amping like you are doing has no affect on performance.

I don't see the part where he could be bi amp and he puts surround speakers in the same sentance this is confusing.
