Since it doesn’t sound like this is a very popular subject, I’ll try to keep it brief
![]() Wireless introduces many variables which can drastically change a users experience. Routers, protocols, antennas, walls, distance, interference, other wireless users, etc. can all make the wireless experience vary to quite an extent depending on the combination of the above factors. Ethernet (within a given speed class), on the other hand, will provide the exact same experience to every person using it…there is very little variance based on the above factors. If you have a solid Wi-Fi setup, like many have said, there won’t be a huge difference for media streaming, but I personally like the consistency, speed, security and ease of setup (no password) of Ethernet for all networking equipment that supports it. |

![]() We all know what can interfere with a wireless network. No one would rely upon a network plagued with interference. With a "solid Wi-Fi setup" there is no difference with streaming. If you have a solid connection, then you get the same solid results. I like both types of networks for different reasons. I would not tolerate an unreliable network connection when streaming. Streaming has enough drawbacks as it is without my introducing more. Last edited by Vilya; 09-29-2022 at 07:25 PM. |

Okay the Key Phrase is "Good Enough," what most of you think of Streaming. So that means Streaming over Wireless is "Good Enough!" So like deatheats says, everyone will have to decide for themselves Hardwired Ethernet or Wireless. If you want better Streaming Quality go with Ethernet, or settle for "Good Enough" Wireless!

Next question, I have posted the results of measuring my Wi-Fi speeds, does anyone believe I am making this stuff up and posting here? Posted but will post again, there are several Android apps available that can do Wi-Fi diagnostics, some free, some paid. Point, you can do the very same thing I do. Have already posted how to access Prime Video diagnostics so if you have Android (Google TV, Sony TV or Nvidia Shield) its possible to do as I do. If you have a ATV4K then you can do exactly what I do using the Developer HUD*. *Will require a Mac computer and loading Xcode. |

Bearing in mind, most people now have access to fibre speeds in the hundreds? I stream let’s say, Greyhound in 4K on Apple TV via wireless. Next night, I stream the same film, but wired. What differences do I see or hear? Let’s strip this down to the basics. |

![]() You either have a stable and reliable connection to the network or you do not. If you do have a stable and reliable connection to the network, whether or not the network is wired or wireless makes no damn difference. You asked this of your youtube hero: alchav AlexanderC: "Your testing shows Amazon Prime very poor, and I get very good Streaming. I also have Fiber 85Mbps Symmetrical, but I come off the Fiber Fed Switch with Ethernet straight into my Sony 65" UHD TV. Are you connected WiFi to your OLED?" Here is the reply that you received: Techthusiasm: "I'm testing the apps back-to-back also, so if a network issue were happening then every app should show faulty behavior. But when one streams rock solid max rates and the next stumbles, I blame the app not the network." He seems to get it. Why can't you? His streaming issues with Amazon Prime had NOTHING to do with the his network connection contrary to your baseless assertion here that streaming issues are mostly due to people using wifi. His connection was wired, oh by the way. Last edited by Vilya; 09-30-2022 at 12:03 AM. |

Accidentally bought a Steelbook and didn't realize it till it arrived in the post box. ![]() At least it doesn't seem damaged and I don't think it cost extra and ... it's kind of cool looking. I prefer standard packaging but the occasional Steel book is fine. Was happy with the price of this one too.. ![]() |

Have not viewed Crawl or Bullet Train yet, have Old Henry and Allegiant. Viewed but passed on the other titles. If you like westerns then Old Henry should be a good addition to your collection, IMO, Allegiant was the best of that series.

![]() I was undecided about Bullet Train, but I am more inclined to get it after your enthusiastic endorsement. I don't generally pre-order stuff unless it is a limited edition, so I will wait until its released. I noticed elsewhere that you were not a big fan of Thor Love And Thunder. How bad is it? |
