I don't see how Ohio State doesn't fire Tressel at this point. He's been lying his butt off for months. Come on Buckeyes show some integrity!

Here's what Ohio St. President Gordon Gee said about the possibility of firing Tressel not long ago.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=6194162

Quote:
Ohio State president Gordon Gee said he and Tressel had discussed the violation at Gee's house for 3 hours one night.

Gee also said he had not considered dismissing the Buckeyes coach.

"No, are you kidding?" he said with a laugh. "Let me be very clear. I'm just hoping the coach doesn't dismiss me."
It's all a big joke to him. The Ohio St. President is so far up Tressel's @ss it's not funny. The NCAA is going to have to lay the hammer down hard on Tressel and give him a very long suspension because the school sure isn't going to.

That is just laughable, it really sounds like Gee doesn't understand the gravity of the situation. Or just doesn't care about how his university looks in the eyes of everyone else across the nation. I like Tressel, he seems like a nice guy but he screwed the pooch here.

FX is going to start carrying college football games this season. No games have been announced yet but they will carry at least 13 major games from the Pac-12, Big 12, and Conference USA. I think this is great because the Pac-12 and Big 12 have really been lacking in national exposure due to their poor TV deals.

I've never understood why Fox hasn't had a bigger presence in college football (and basketball). Their Fox Sports Nets aren't doing well due to increased competition from Time Warner and Comcast's regional sports nets so it makes sense that they should be showing games on FX and ideally on Fox. College football gets great ratings and it makes a lot more sense to be showing those games rather than reruns and paid programming.

Any idea what Garcia did this time? The articles I've seen don't specify.

From what has been reported he showed up to a mandatory "leadership" meeting involving all student-athletes with "alcohol on his breath" and being disruptive with some fowl language being used. Several different stories but all seem to involve those 2 incidents. Suspended by Pres., AD and Capt. COCK himself. This may be the last we see of this loser hopefully. I think this will really hurt the chances of USuCk winning the East and/or the SEC and return to the bottom of college football where they belong.

Wow... that's really bad. I wouldn't put it past Spurrier to reinstate him before the season starts though. He usually values winning over ethics when it comes to his teams. Spurrier does a decent job recruiting by South Carolina standards but I doubt he'll ever get the Gamecocks to top-tier status in the SEC. The traditional SEC powers like UF, Bama and LSU bring in much better classes.

While I agree that USC is a bottom dweller they have talent right now. They have the best B in the nation and 1 of the best WR in the nation. The East is down and no one has a proven QB except USC, Garcia. This pains me to say being a Clemson fan, but USC is the favorite in the East and possibly for the SEC with Garcia. USC beat UF and Bama last year and UF and AU come to Cootville this year. Biggest game for them is at UGA 2nd game of the season and UGA is coming off a bad year and losing their best player, AJ. I do hope that Capt. COCK will be over ruled by the university and kick Garcia off the team so I can laugh at COCK fans as their best team, maybe ever, falls apart before them.

I think you guys are forgetting that Connor Shaw was a highly recruited quarterback that Spurrier landed. He obviously has very limited experience, but by the end of the season he could really be starting to get it going. I've never been high on Garcia, he's been a turnover machine his whole career. Much like Ryan Mallet he always seemed to throw a pick at the worst possible time. It might be in South Carolina's best interest to get rid of Garcia. Lattimore will win games for them, let him be the workhorse.

Not sure about highly recruited, GT was only other D1 offer I believe and they run triple option. I do agree and it has been said that Shaw coould or would have taken over the starting job by years end. Spurrier loves Shaw and hates Garcia. I think we see why now. I still hope they lose all there games no matter who is QB.

Clemson fan, I imagine? I'm going to miss our game with you this season, it's always a great and stressful game. (I'm a Miami fan)

Spurrier is never going to have the success he had at Florida while at South Carolina. Winning 8-9 games a season at South Carolina is doing a great job, unfortunately for them they can never contend with the big guns of the SEC with most recruits. And most importantly, it's insanely hard to convince a top tier quarterback to come play for South Carolina.

Am I that obvious? Miami games have been good and I think they have helped our recruiting in Florida. It's hard to get a top tier QB to go there because they are in the armpit of the south.

I never understood why he didn't just go back to Florida rather than take the SC job to begin with. He certainly could have. No college coach, not even Urban Meyer or Nick Saban could make South Carolina better than a 10-4 team at best. Guess Spurrier is content coaching slightly above average SC teams the rest of his career and enjoying his Augusta membership.

I got to watch a public scimmage by the UConn football team on Saturday. It was quite fun, but I gotta wonder what kind of offense we're looking at. Until late game, the combined defenses scored more than the offenses.

We did get to see a last-play-of-the game for a winning TD tho.

Odd story, three high school players that were being recruited by the University of Georgia have been charged with stealing several items, including iPods and iPhones, from lockers in the Georgia locker room. The recruits were vising the locker room on April 7 during an open house. The school was able to recover the iPods but the iPhones had already been sold. One of the recruits charged, Deion Bonner, a cornerback from Columbus, GA, was named to the Rivals250 to watch 2012 and had offers from schools like Alabama, Auburn, and both USCs, while another of the recruits, Marquise Hawkins, also of Columbus, GA, is a quarterback who will be a junior next season. The third player charged is an unnamed juvenile.

http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports...er-room-theft/

Edit: The Atlanta Journal Consitution says that Hawkins is not a football recruit, and is instead the twin brother of 2013 recruit Marqui Hawkins (seriously, naming your twins Marquise and Marqui?).
