I see that you have a Denon receiver, do the Denon receivers with individual amps for each channel deliver the same amount of continous power to all channels at the same time?

So, if I had a 5.1 receiver with a L and R RCA pre out and a stand alone amp than I could do vertical bi-amping?

So, the words to look for are, "Discrete Power Amplifier?"

I guess what I said would not be true for the Denon AVR-591 because the pre out is labeled "Surr Back/Front Hight."

yes that is what to look for. the key is to have seprerate power amplifiers for each pre-out as each amplifier will have it's own transformer to even out the load.

pretty much. as your 591 is a 5.1 system with 5 amplifiers inside you can use that preout only for either 7.1 or front height channels to another amp .Wont work for pre-out to 2 other amps for vertical bi-amping that i can see.

avr's generaly are not suited for bi-amping. thier engineerred for HT

How come a lot of receivers state high output but have low power consumption while those that state low output have high power consumption?
For example, Yamaha RX-V567 draws 270W and puts out 90W per channel while Denon AVR-1611 draws 450W and puts out 75W per channel.
