The blind buy of Where the Crawdads Sing was a winner, thanks to the post here. I like the music track by Mychael Danna. Quite a few years ago purchased a CD titled North of Niagara by Mychael Danna & Tim Clement, a favorite of the New Age genre.

With the Amazon sale have added several titles to the library. For western fans added Guns for San Sebastian and thought the A/V was quite good for a 1968 movie. Used Pro Logic IIx for the two channel audio track with pleasing results.

I just watched Crawdads today also. Beautifully shot movie. Deserves a 4K somewhere down the road. Liked the score a lot and a fun one to upmix with all of the sounds of the marsh. Glad I picked it up.

Started watching "The English" on PRIME and it's a pretty cool western series. It's supposedly in HDR but my APTV4K does not get that feed. I switched over to the PS5 and it plays in HDR / 5.1.

This is pretty big. I'm being super selective with my Blu-ray purchases now. UHDs are pretty much inevitable as the market grows since there's more profit to be made.

Hopefully we see that happen more in the future.

Now, the French Senate has approved a bill that should increase that markedly, requiring parking lots with a minimum of 80 spaces to be covered by solar panels, according to Public Senat.

Parking lots with between 80-400 spaces will have five years starting in July 2023 to be in compliance. Any larger lots will have less time, only three years from the same date. In all cases, at least half the area of the parking lot must be covered with solar panels.

Wish there was a way to turn off the user ratings in the Z9X browser. Yeah, that's what I want: to be told my taste is bad before playing my own movie. It's a generally useless feature, since most people know their own collection, unless you're advocating piracy, sharing the content with multiple people/yourself at once.

One of my next projects is to replace the 15 wall warts in my equipment racks. Hope I can find a turnkey solution because there is other things I would rather do than design and construct a multi voltage, fairly high current power supply. OTOH, I have already added extra AC outlets so I could add even more wall warts.

Shit, bought a bunch of USB cables/splitters trying to connect the Zidoo to my Schiit Modi headphone DAC, which is already connected to the PC, unsuccessfully, and only now realized I could have just ordered an optical cable. Both the Zidoo and Modi have S/PDIF. There's even a switch at the front of the Modi. I just never bothered to figure out what the middle option does. Assumed it was some kind of standby option. Or maybe knew it at one point and forgot, because I never used optical in my life.



No uncompressed audio formats, but most of the videos I'd listen to with headphones (concerts, music videos, Criterion mono movies late at night) are PCM anyway.

Used to have several devices with optical S/PDIF, now only have two in the racks. One from the HTPC and one from a Chromecast Audio (discontinued) to the AVP. Like the CA because I can cast most any audio from my tablet or phone or tell the Google Mini to play XYZ and it will cast to the CA.

Have you watched 1883 yet? I was hesitant at first with it, but liked it more than Yellowstone. The other quasi Western I toy around with but haven't pulled the trigger on (no pun intended) is Longmire. Curious if anyone has any opinions either way with it.

Yes I have watched 1883 and I highly recommend it. As for Longmire, I haven't watched it but have heard it's very good!

We have, we liked it. It was a Netflix disc rental. At this time it is not a purchase but that is always subject to change.
