this is a local area network that they design. If all you care about is having 1Gb connection to your neighbor, then that is good for an extremely steep price but if we are talking about accessing the internet you will still need an interconnect to the internet (or in simpler terms an ISP).

This is for new developments where the infrastructure does not exist.

not just that. but people are asking for cheaper and not looking at paying more for better quality. There is the crux of the issue.

it depends what we are talking about. if it is streaming rate I agree if it reaches 24 fills up the buffer and then goes down to nothing that 24 is meaningless. If it is actual video rate then peek is important since what you want is to have the BW for the comnplex scene, if the next seen is a completely black and it can be donein a lot less bits that is niot material.

RoP in UHD is the ONLY show on Prime that I have saw with those numbers. Their other original UHD content is more or less like the other two mentioned. Most other content that I have checked on Prime fall a good bit below theses numbers for video.

good point, a handful of eye candy pieces that push the limits don't mean much.

Really wish folks that post any streaming data would include the time of day data was gathered. There can be a big difference between say 3:30 PM and prime time for any given time zone.
an other good point.

All the streaming video that I have tested has been CBR. Most likely has to be that way because the file is segmented with various resolutions and data rates (adaptive streaming) so it must be able to switch smoothly between them. The actual data coming into a streaming box comes in burst. Below: streaming a show from Netflix to a PC.

Disc is VBR because it saves space and no need to switch resolutions.

If I get really ambitious one of these days I will feed the Shield Pro or ATV4K into the Oppo or Zidoo or Zappiti and check their diagnostic screen for info. Nobody hold their breath waiting for the result!

You didn't fully read the article, like you guys pointed out years ago, a Local Area Network is in the home they are talking about an Intranet. Next Level will design the Network according to what the customers wants, from 1Gbps to 10Gbps.
Quote:
Next Level builds its networks to supply 10Gbps, and its customers can choose whether to provide 1Gbps or 10Gbps to users.
Next Level will provide an ISP or the Community can choose who they want. By building your own network you can design it to the Community's needs. I have always said , with your own Network the design can include Fiber Mux's and Servers from various Companies. AT&T, Comcast, Verizon, Vudu, or what ever the Community can afford or Negotiate a Deal!

I think moving my old CPU and motherboard to the movie NAS after the upgrade of my PC a week ago has stopped the random freezes. Been on non-stop for days. From a Ryzen 3 1200 in a Micro-ATX board to a Ryzen 5 2600X in a standard ATX board. Vastly overpowered for movies. Didn't have to do anything in TrueNAS, except check the new IP address. Was just plug and play with the new hardware.

Gotmule,

EDIT - Updated my FW on my projector, took an hour but went fine.

I couple of folks had problems and the recommendation for now it to perform the update without any HDMI cables attached. Particularly powered HDMI cables.

IMPORTANT: As of November 16, myself and several other owners using powered HDMI fiber cables have experience a problem where the firmware update appears to have caused damage to the one or both sending/receiving HDMI chipsets from having left the HDMI cable connected during the update.

Until JVC becomes aware of the details and can confirm any specifics, as a safety precaution disconnect any powered HDMI cables before performing any firmware update.

I started the FW update process on my projector. Went ahead and did a factory reset first which may not be useful but I figured I'll rebuild the configuration from scratch. I do want to try the new AutoCal software that was also recently updated.

true, bad choice of wording on my part for the description. But it is not an intranet either, that term is for a bunch of internal, private web sites. I don't know if a right term exists for this.

you are missing the point, if it is important for you to have a 10Gb connection to your neighbor then yes this will give you that but if the ISP only offers 100Mb to it you only get 100Mb to be shared outside of your neighborhood and to watch Apple or Netflix or Disney..... you need to go outside your network.

to go with a road analogy, you are usually it is important to have a good driveway because then you can drive the speed you want and, in this case, Next Level Roads builds high quality private roads for communities where you can drive twice the speed limit. But in the end does it matter no because you want to drive to streamie's movie rental in the city and then you need to drive on the public roads and highways full of traffic to get there and back.

Watching the first game of the World Cup via Peacock (Telemundo) and the live feed coming through the new ATV4K is handling it like a champ. Great picture and sound and no drop outs of any kind whatsoever.

Thank you for sharing. Kinda scary. I may hold off until JVC weighs in. I will also reach out to the calibrator to see what he has come across so far.

An hour for a FW update is long, was the PJ Hardwired? I'm a firm believer of being Hardwired for FW updates. I have seen where Wireless has caused problems.

I can say it is scary doing the update. It takes a full hour and a few people have had problems. What is good is, these projectors are still under warranty.

I was trying to wait until tomorrow for mine but I had time and couldn't wait.

I'm really impressed with Film Maker Mode!

The update is from USB key. It’s a 150 Mb zip file ghat wipes and re-write practically everything.

The FW in this case is Downloaded to a USB drive before installation.

Next Level calls it a Local Network, but if Servers are connected they can have internal Websites. Anyway this concept is strange to most people, but if you have your own Network you can can design it to the needs of the Community. When I worked for PacBell I was involved in designing Campus Networks. Like Oracles Redwood City 5 Building Network.

As for Bandwidth Next Level Design is from 1 to 10Gbps, and they will provide an ISP or you can bring one in to manage the Capacity provided. By this I mean the Network is designed to handle from 1 to 10Gbps, if you bring in an ISP you negotiate Bandwidth according to your Community needs and Budget.
