So I get that your TV needs eARC to pass TrueHD and DTS-HD MA on to the AV receiver. But does your receiver need eARC as well? ARC on the receiver side is not enough?

What is the source for the TV?

Vilya has been down this road, maybe he can chime in.

Is there some reason you can not use your AVR as the source selector and send the video to your display? Sorry if this is a repeat question!

Because my receiver can't pass 10-bit full range RGB 4K from my PC to the TV. Downgrades it to limited. It also can't do 120 Hz like my TV. Got the HDMI 2.1 graphics card set up today and was hoping to get rid of the phantom second display that I use for HDMI audio.

Too bad most streaming devices do not have a HUD (diagnostic) display like the Apple TV4K has. I am making an assumption the Network Bandwidth it shows is the bandwidth between the user and the CDN. On mine if I check MA (or some other provider) at around 5:00 PM local time the bandwidth may be 200 to 250 Mbps but by 9:00 PM the bandwidth may be down to 10 to 30 Mbps. A speed check just to the ISP always shows 230 to 270 Mbps.

Have tried many times over the years to get people to understand the difference between speed test to an ISP vs the speed to the CDN and the time of day can vary the results drastically.

OT: I would be interested to know the business you own.

Sounds like a really good reason for a new AVR!!

Actually, it probably can pass 10-bit RGB full range 4K through, now that I'm using an HDMI 2.1 graphics card and considering that Dolby Vision full range is passed from the Z9X through the receiver to the TV. But it can't do 120 Hz, so not useful for my PC video, this receiver. Can't justify the 400 dollars and tax (Denon AVR-S760H) just to get rid of the phantom display that my icons sometimes disappear to.

Should clarify again: I didn't have this limited range problem with the PC to TV because I used a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter (still do, since the graphics card only has one HDMI, which I need for audio to the receiver). But DisplayPort can't carry TrueHD, DTS-HD MA and most surround formats, so my only choice was pure HDMI.

I guess there could be bottlenecks depending on your ISP CDN connection, but for most people it's the Cable Companies Architecture. The Cable Companies have like a Star Distribution where they disburse from connection points with feeds to these points with a certain number of homes connected. These feeds have a Capacity and need Load Balancing for the proper Bandwidth. Heavy users are put on different Networks.

Fiber Networks are configured differently where each circuit comes from the Central Distribution and the Bandwidth is not shared like the Cable Companies. That's why you get drops in Bandwidth during heavy usage with shared Networks as opposed to Direct Circuit Fiber Networks!

Video NR:
My old Magnavox/Funai Blu-ray player has 2 levels of video NR (as do all 3 of my DVD recorders, also Magnavox/Funai)

I'm copying some of my movies to DVD-Rs (in 6 hour record mode) to take with me when I visit my friends next year.

I also plan to take the old Magnavox Blu-ray player because the more extreme video NR mode really helps smooth over the low video data rate video artifacts from the 6 hour DVD-R copies.

Any of the streaming companies (or 3rd party app developers) offer any kind of video NR systems to help hide the low video data rate video artifacts?

Prime time, me to ISP server 230 to 270 Mbps, me to CDN 15 Mbps. From 4 years ago:

210, 33.5

230, 19.13 via TV, 92.12 via Blu-ray player
75, 12.15

300, 70
Look at the videos with the ATV4K, the poster has a gigabit connection, but his bandwidth < 250 Mbps and bet those were not measured in local prime time.

Doesn’t matter what download speed you have the bottle neck is the streaming companies themselves. I have a gigabit connection, everything hardwired, all measured between 500 mbps to 800 mbps but all that is not going to turn AppleTV or any streaming company suddenly open a 500 mbps bandwidth when I’m streaming their movies.

That's exactly it. Seems like a different product. And, it's stunning.

It was amazing already but seems somehow new.

Watching 47 Meters Down blu ray upconverted to 8K with Film Maker Mode and LD3.

I don't think FMM works at all with my ATV4K but it looked good too.

For you projector owners (JVC NZ7, 8, 9 or Sony VW6000, VW7000), if you ever have the chance try see your projector with a madVR Envy in the chain. Some of the owners of referenced projectors have a Lumagen Radiance Pro and really like it.
