Not to mention that there will always be used LED walls for sale on the secondary market. ebay to the rescue!

Regarding point one, some high end 4K sets don’t pass and they are the ones that tend to be the best quality.

Same will apply with LED walls, don’t forget no Micro-LED will pass the new restrictions. It’s expected that future Micro-LEDs will be the preferred choice for huge LED walls due to their clarity and brightness.

his point was that filming can be done anywhere, even worst since more or less the dawn of cinema backgrounds have been able to be added in post filming.

Let's assume you are right (i.e. the TV in the background can't be there because it goes against EU laws), why can't the actors film in front a green wall in Europe and anything in the background be filmed here in Montreal where those TVs are allowed, and the electricity is clean and cheaper

the EU regulation is real. The interpretation that it means the end of 8k is not. A big fuss has happened here but can you show me one TV manufacturer that agrees that it means the death of 8k in Europe.

nothing installed will be affected. The law only affects stuff on the store shelves in March of next year.

the law only affects the SDR mode out of the box people will still be able (assuming a manufacturer gives them that option to turn up the brightness and use more electricity. People will still be able to have more than one TV in their home and if all those TVS are used separately or as a video wall that is up to them.

If they can’t get past the regulations, it’s effectively the death of 8K in Europe, or at least a suspension while a solution can be worked on.

Thanks, but the new restrictions were proposed two month ago, maybe some updates to the rules you linked have been applied?

It looks like the whole thing was blown way out of proportion by Steedeel (which isn't surprising).

In Europe TVs will just have to default to an energy efficient mode and display a warning message if users switch settings. Since default settings are always crap anyway the new regulations won't make anything worse.

If TV manufacturer X puts a bunch of TVs in a container and ships them to big warehouse in France and then some are shipped to UK if those TVs are 8k or 4k or HD it should not make a difference from a shipping point of view. Curiosity got the better of me so I've done a little bit of reading on this, and a number of websites mention Felixstowe and Southampton as ports which take in shipments directly from China (and presumably other nations too, but China is the country that's mentioned here). There are also other ports in England further north which also receive shipping but I think these tend to handle smaller cargo. Once they arrive, they'll then wait for UK customs to check them out before distribution.

Now that the UK has left the EU, I suspect that UK ports will now handle more traffic from the rest of the world.
