My midnight screening had a pretty lively crowd, almost to the point where I was going to have to tell people to be quiet. But, I did laugh when a guy in my row said
[Show spoiler]”If he stabs that baby, I’m leaving.”

As someone who grew up in suburban/small town Illinois, she looks exactly like the type of girls I went to high school with.
I live in the upper Midwest so a sold out show is rare here. Last couple sold out shows I remember were Pitch Perfect 3 on $5 Tuesday around Christmas time (pretty sure a lot of movies were that day) and the Thursday night of Infinity War. My theatre doesn't have online ticketing so you have to get tickets in person.

My 7PM showing was pretty packed. It was probably the most full I've ever seen my Dolby Cinema, but I do typically catch matinees. The audience didn't seem too engaged. Definitely heard more laughs from the comedy moments than screams from the scares.

Thought I'd mention that I got these previews last night:

The Possession of Hannah Grace
Destroyer
Pet Sematary
The Curse of La Llorona
Glass
Captain Marvel
Happy Death Day 2U

I already intended to see Captain Marvel and Glass (
[Show spoiler]even though the Glass trailer I saw before First Man was much better than the one that played before Halloween
) but La Llorona and Destroyer definitely got my attention. I'll skip the rest. Pet Sematary in particular was a bit of a letdown since I didn't like the look of that one at all.

I watched It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown last night when I got home from the theater and it was scarier than the new Halloween.

There was an attractive dude wearing cowboy boots sitting by himself a few seats down from me last night who would glance at me every now and then. If there's a 0.00001% chance you're reading this, hmu.

In certain movies, at certain theaters, I'm all for a rowdy crowd that yells stuff. It's usually during horror movies, and usually the less "nice" theaters. Last night I almost felt tempted to yell something out in this movie, but A) I don't ever do that and B) I was at Alamo and probably would have been kicked out.

But as Myers put the mask back on for the first time, I wanted to shout "BIG MIKE IS BACK, BABY." Mainly because if I heard someone else yell that out, I would have found it super funny.

I'll never forget seeing Rob Zombie's Halloween on opening night in a ghetto theater. When young Michael was following his sister down the hallway, someone in my crowd yelled out: "OH SH**, HE GONNA RAPE HER".

Like...I was baffled by that comment. Did the person not realize that was his sister? Why in the world is that the first thing that came to his mind? It was pretty bizarre.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but

I'll give it an 8/10.
I had a free AMC ticket through Coke rewards. AMC doesn't have the No Pass restriction like Regal. I expected to see a full parking lot and long wait in line. Got a pretty empty parking lot and I walked directly to the the ticket taker. They had a stack of free Venom comics, so I picked one up on the way out. Had a nice seat with no one behind me until 20 mins after start time and a woman brought in 3 pre-teens.

Did anyone else have the audience laugh at
[Show spoiler]the part where the babysitter slips and falls as M is trying to kill her? I know the kid just said a funny line, but the pre-teens behind me reacted to her slipping like it was a full out physical comedy. I really wish they would not have spoiled the closet reveal in the trailers. That would have been awesome to see for the 1st time within the movie.

Can someone clear this bit up for me:
[Show spoiler]The guy in the closet in the end was Toby Huss the bro in law, right? Did M have time to move that body up there? Oh, wait, there was a shot much later where you see Huss on the ground. Maybe it is one of the cops?

Just got out of seeing this and I very much enjoyed it. 4/5 from me. I really can't wait for the sequel.

It's not a matter of the movie scaring ME. I am in a theater. I am not personally scared.

It's how scared the victims are that the audience identifies with. Some of the killings were very quick where the victim was killed instantly and others had a build up. Parts were well done and others not so much. I gave it a generous 4 last night but I think it should be a 3 after thinking more about it. I don't think it was well directed. I think a better, more creative director could have squeezed more out of the script. Lastly I hated the final location.

To me Halloween isn't a date -- it's an atmosphere of kids, decorations, candy, parties, etc. When that fake scary atmosphere has real horror and mayhem mixed in where the potential victims are unaware is what makes it unique.

When they moved away from that setting to the final location it became a different movie.

I'm re-watching H5 now on AMC. It's so bad. A kid who can predict when the next death will be? Okay... Also the guys in that movie look so old. Not sure how old they're supposed to be.

Also, another horror cliche I haaaate. The killer has a perfect opportunity to kill one of the main characters (cop car) and doesn't.

Saw it last night. I won't dwell but I didn't care for it. It was a letdown to me. A big letdown. This article sums up my feelings on the movie perfectly...

Great article. This line sums up my feelings: It’s a film with three credited screenwriters; after walking out of the theater, you’d swear the number was at least four or five.

In fact, I almost felt like there were several directors and editors as well. The film was a jumbled mess.

Definitely a film made by committee. No vision or leadership whatsoever with this one. This movie may ignore all the sequels in the series. I'm going to quietly ignore this film and go back to enjoying 1, 2, and 4 (completely ignoring the stupid ending in 4). They are all better films IMO. This movie is going to be put into the recycle bin along with 5, 6, H20, Resurrection, and Zombie's Halloweens.

As a halloween fan I loved it but as a movie fan and horror fan that has waited a long time for this movie it felt like 4 movies at once. they tried so many directions and I fealt like the tried to cram the spirit of H78 into another movie. idk how do spoiler lines. so i will stop there

the movie ignores all the sequels: except references from 2,3,4,5,6,7,and 8.

2- the obvious murder
3 the masks
4. the podcasters and gas station (reminds me of the doctors from the opening)
5/6
[Show spoiler] the new loomis/new dr. wynn twist

7- mentions an event happening 20 years ago
8 - resurrection church van and when laurie says happy halloween Michael (reminded me of hello Michael and trick or treat motherfu*ker rolled into one)

even one of the murders was from zombieween 2.
