I can think of a few. For instance, Arrow had quite a few MSRP $50 titles in the past that street in the $30-$35 range depending where you shop. And, Mondo Vision releases street & MSRP at $35-$65 street depending on the edition. Twilight Time has titles that street & MSRP are $30-$35.

But now that I mention WM, it reminds me that you mentioned earlier that your husband screamed out Walmart (I promise I won't ask what you were doing at that time).
The believability of this depends on having worked in a library and a book store, at one point in my life. What he described is simply impossible, unless he lived in a place where everyone checked out books from only one section of the library and the transfers to other libraries were minimal and the incoming new books were also minimal. Just shelving the kids section for the day at my local, which was a medium sized library with only one floor, took about two hours for me, moving fast, when I was young and in peak, teenage condition. But I think the point he made is valid, that people vary in speed when it comes to packaging for mailing. DD is, based on my own experience, good at it, but there are some who think he could be faster.

Cute, but we were watching the live feed and Bill asked "Am I Safeway?", with a gun next to him, wearing a banana costume that looks like something you could buy at Walmart. Gun + simple sheath banana costume = Walmart. Let the sheath comments commence.

Is he talking about Scream? (with the sexual slurs?)
Vinegar Syndrome sells for $25.00 with a slip.
They were referencing some of the new Shout prices and the common prices that people pay for Shout and Criterion over at Amazon. Bill often mentions Amazon prices for those companies, particularly Shout Factory, and DD has also mentioned that, on occasion. I can't say they're wrong. 29.99 for a release plus tax, depending on where you live, is insane. The Criterion cost, often $30 or even higher is obscene, when you consider the routine B&N Criterion sales. All of it is just crazy. However, $25 for a film with free shipping, which you get if you order over $40, is not crazy, but is top tier pricing. That is about my max though, fixed income and all. I wish VS had it over $40 instead of $50. If wishes were horses, I could finally make up for that one great grandfather, who was, for a time, a horse thief. At least he sold them to people who would use them as beasts of burden, and not food.

So what exactly is your point?

Also, you lost me in the comparison with Mondo Vision. That's literally a one man shop releasing amazing once in a lifetime editions of Andrzej Zulawski movies exclusively. Comparing that to Dark Force is like saying dog excrement is the same as the finest culinary dish in the world. The packaging, extras, and audio/visual presentation of a Mondo Vision release far exceeds anything Dark Force has ever done to this date. The same can be said for Arrow.

I have zero beef with Dark Force, but you need to compare apples to apples. Your post is straight up delusional.

My point is someone asked for a company that puts out releases that cost $35+ and I gave examples.

Those comapines you listed put out releases that are worth the asking price.

That's purely subjective, of course. Some people might care less about the extras on those releases (although Twilight Time releases often have little to none and still cost $30-$35) and still need to pay the price to get the Blu-ray Disc. Some people may think the type of content Dark Force/Code Red releases is more valuable than the content of those other companies. etc...

Point is, there are several companies that put out releases that street at $30-$35, which is what I replied to with the poster asking for them.

Are you inferring that Dark Force would be justified in asking that price for one of their releases?

I'm less concerned with how different people feel about other labels, including myself, and more concerned with how long it will be before DF releases Mirror Mirror and Point Doom, hopefully with a nice 2-pack deal.

CR purchased the licensing rights, they could sell releases for $200 if they want to. Up to them how they want to run their business and if people want to pay whatever price they ask. You know, capitalism.

Classic goal post move. Someone mentions price, you counter with an example, then it immediately turns into "well, feces dog, higher caliber blah blah blah"

Okay, I stand by my focus on the new releases, however, the 35 including shipping I spend so many years ago on Devil's Wedding Night was the best 35 I ever spend on a single film release. What's the point? We are all different.

To quote you, "one company" gave you "far more for my money than another." Far more, for YOUR money. If someone else bought the same thing for the same price, whatever it happened to be, that person might turn around and say they got taken and bought garbage, because we are all different.

Some people here still talk about how much they love their HHOH5 release from VS and I hate that movie so much, it's actually kind of sad how much I hate it, because I'm typically charitable and at least give people credit for making the effort. Now, Young Hannah, best thing I ever bought from VS, totally worth the money.

With Dark Force and Code Red, if a title doesn't interest you, pass on it and leave that copy for someone who will love it, but fighting over what titles are worth the money vs. not worth the money is a time sucking proposition and, in the end we all lose.

Also, you and Ruined can duke it out via PM, if you really need to fight over which releases aren't worth it.

It's really not. 4 quarters is still a dollar. No matter what you tell yourself.

I really appreciate Dark Force bringing some of these titles to HD, but it's not a fair comparison when you start rambling off companies like Mondo Vision and Arrow. Not even in the same universe.

For me, the Mirror Mirror series is choice. Half of the films my beloved Arrow puts out, put me off. The ones I order from the annual clearance, from Arrow UK, are completely worth it, but I've never spent more than the equivalent of 12 US dollars for a release from Arrow UK. Arrow America? $20, for one that was exclusive to this continent.

Again, we all have different tastes. Every year in my house, on Christmas, we watch Lifeforce. That's my happy place. I imagine I'm that young, look that good, come from outer space, can never die, have mind control powers and a man as interesting as young Railsback is chasing me down, in a mostly good way. My husband imagines he's Railsback. Life is good.

It's so sad because, when I see him as he is now, I remember we have all gotten old. So unfair.
