Speaking of the book, what exactly did happen with the hookers?

I won't post about them directly here on the board as the descriptions are quite graphic but if you go to the Wikipedia entry for the novel there is a section devoted to murder descriptions. It details some of the things Bateman does which were not kept in the film. Again, a warning: the information on that page is graphic in nature so consider yourself warned.

If you can handle descriptions of extreme violence towards (mainly) women, you should give the novel a spin. I think it's a great social satire, Especially of the 80's yuppie culture. But as was said above the book becomes exceedingly violent as it progresses and batemans mental state continues to deteriorate. That's what I think makes the film great. They struck a balance. They managed to tell the story of Patrick without relying on the ultraviolence contained in the book, which would have bought the film down into low rent slasher territory.

What's the best Australian e-tailer who has the best low price, reasonable shipping and will dispatch to the USA? Been wanting to import this for quite awhile.

Not too sure about the shipping side of things, but if you're not in a hurry to get it, just wait for the price to drop - I think I picked it up for around $15.

In my research you save most buy buying about 3 titles. If you only get 1 or 2 titles the shipping is pretty high per item. After 3 titles the decrease isn't as exponential as at about 3. Seems to be the sweet spot for JB, Ezydvd, etc.

I think I'll use xe.com for conversion from AUS $ to USA $. Damn it's expensive.

Thanks guys. But besides American Psycho isn't FACE/OFF one of the better looking Blu-rays compared to the one released in my country? I was considering ezydvd or jbhifi. I also have a multi-region DVD player so I guess it might be cheaper to order three titles. Makes me wish there were an Amazon AUS though.

Thank you! I've been hearing for awhile now that this is the best version to get on blu ray. Is it Uncut and Region Free? Some of the sellers on ebay list the Australian version as Region B...

It is the uncut version presented in OAR and with True HD audio and definitely region free

I kept the DVD (added it to the case) because of the following doco that isn't on any of the Blu-rays

American Psycho: Book to Screen” (4 parts) -documentary:
- The Book
- The Deal
- The Film
- The Pornography of Killing: An Essay by Holly Willis

Love the novel, love the movie, love the Aussie Blu-ray. I too have kept my local and UK DVDs for the extras.

How do I import the 4K steelbook from Bestbuy? Cheapest on eBay is $100 AUD for someone re-selling their own copy brand new.

Are mail forwarding services any good/cheap?

Got my Via Vision 4K set today and sadly the Blu-ray version of the first film is a port of the US disc on a 25gb disc with DTS HR 6.1 and Dolby Digital EX lossy soundtracks. The 4K disc is just a port too, but that has Atmos so no biggie, but the previous Australian release was on a 50gb disc and had lossless Dolby TrueHD.

It's a worthwhile upgrade (nice HDR, Atmos, new extras), but not at Imprint prices.

I imported the UK UHD. The cost of the Aussie release is ridiculous. Especially the original limited release with AP2, which is a sequel in name only. Nothing to do with the original director or Bret Easton Ellis source material, and a lame cash grab.

Tried to watch AP2 on Foxtel, but it is truly awful. The premise was a failure and it doesn’t improve from there.

The AP2 BD is simply an expensive coaster IMHO. The LE packaging was cool, but not worth the $.

Still the truehd sounds great and the transfer is still great, if I get it cheap I might upgrade but not at Via Visions prices

Imprint and Via Vision are both guilty of overpricing. But as an example of a ridiculous pricing release from Via Vision, Field of Dreams LE is awfully expensive, compared to what you can import the US standard edition for.

$90 Amazon AU, $70 JB HiFi* (when it’s not 20% off).

$20 Amazon US via AU* (depending on how the Aussie $ is doing).

A lenticular case and a few art cards does not justify the outrageous price for Field of Dreams, just as the LE AP set’s extras, including the blood pack, are not worth forking out approx. $80… And the AP2 BD is worth less than zero.
