Monnie
Yes my bd's play just fine through the receiver once everything "handshakes".

I'm not connected to the internet i download the firmware from work and put it onto a Cd R and my bdp updates that way.
I was just curious how you would update a receiver i'm thinking it is over the internet?

Default U73 for me too

Hey guys, I am joining the club now lol. I just got the error code (if that is what it is) tonight

I have relatively cheap HDMI cables but they have worked fine since i have jumped into the world of bluray...about since Jan.

about a week ago, i recall watching valkyrie and there were two times where the screen went to snow and the audio stoped but the player kept right on ticking and about a second or less later it all went back to normal. Then, two nights ago, I was watching 3:10 to Yuma and there were two times where for five or so seconds it all went black and the audio went out. Finally, tonight i was trying to watch transformers (i watched it fine several times about 2 months ago) and it cut out 5 minutes into the movie. The player kept on counting but no audio or video.

so i tried to make sure the cables were plugged in tightly with no success. They to work fine directly to the television btw.

on a side note. i used to be able to turn on each component in any order but recently the reciever only recognizes the player if the player is turned on last. and i have been wondering i have only very recently (within the last week) been using the switched AC outlets to from the reciever to power both the player and tv...dont know if that has anything to do with it. i am probably gonna test that.

and finally, this is whole problem totally ridiculous

Well, don't use the US upgrade yet. This was posted on the Yamaha Australia site:

IMPORTANT NOTICE
FOR AUSTRALIAN RX-V3800 AND RX-V1800 CUSTOMERS

Yamaha Electronics Corporation (U.S.A) has recently posted a firmware upgrade file on its website, which is intended only for use on models designed to operate in the U.S.A. This update has been issued with reference to an issue identified with the decoding of DTS-HD audio formats, which appears to have impacted a number of manufacturers. Please do not attempt to utilise this firmware on your own RX-V3800 or RX-V1800 if purchased in Australia. Doing so may render your unit inoperable and void your warranty. Yamaha Music Australia will accept no responsibility for units which are damaged from a failed firmware upgrade or from installing data which was not provided by Yamaha Music Australia. Please contact your nearest Authorised Service Centre or Yamaha Music Australia's Technical Support Department for assistance if your RX-V3800 or RX-V1800 require a firmware upgrade.

Here's the Australia site:
http://www.yamahamusic.com.au/home.asp

I couldn't find any firmware upgrades at this site. Sorry
Here's the support page:

You download a .wav file, burn it to an audio cd, connect the player to the receiver with a digital audio connection and play the cd. More complete instructions are in the download. It may be that this upgrade is for US models only. See my other post.

If it is only for the US Models do you think it well stop me from watching my bd i have read somewhere that it improves the stability for the HDMI connection with other products.

I don't think you should do it. Try to contact Panasonic by phone.

I think i misunderstood you i wasn't going to do anything at all i'm going to leave it as is all i wanted to know is do you think it will stop me from watching my bd i know i will still have the handshake.

If i have any more problems i will let Panasonic know and i will keep my firmware up to date i think that is really important and i will keep my eye out on the Yamaha site as well.

Thanks again dhoover

Nice job

to clarify, that new firmware for your receiver or bd player? I no longer get the U73 problem but still rarely have cutting out issues associated with my Yamaha 663 (both from cable box and bd player; each with HDMI).

Its good to hear its been solved for you, hopefully i can figure mine minor issue out too
