Is anyone else excited about the release of "The Office" Season 5 on blu in early September. I've been waiting for this for a while... now we just need the previous seasons...

I'm pretty excited to buy a season of The Office on Blu-Ray, but I would be more impressed if Season 5 wasn't dissapointing. Don't get me wrong, overall, it was a good season and better than most crap on TV, but it pales in comparison to season 2 and 3.

Season 5 is magnificent. I wouldn't say it was as good as 2 or 3, but I DEFINITELY wouldn't say it "pales in comparison" to those years. There was only one dud episode the entire season (the post-Super Bowl one).

Oh yeah. Can't want to get this one. Although I think I'll just be listening to the tracks nad features on this and that's it. With THE OFFICE. I tend to download the eps right away and then just watch them over and over again.

And I actually liked season 5 a lot. To me, this was the Year of Michael. Whereby he became a much more complex and three dimensional being what with Holly, his disillusionment with corporate and the Michael Scott Paper Company.

The following is my ranking of seasons.

Season 2 (without a doubt their best year. It was their Sgt. Pepper's year)
Season 5 tied with Season 3 (season 3 was the Year of Pam)
Season 4
Season 1 (basically a carbon copy of the UK series and the only season NOT in my collection)

Being that I missed most of the season, I am happy for this to be coming to Blu.

I'm probably still going to pick this up on DVD, for the simple fact that I will watch this show in rooms of my house that don't have a BD player and well...it's The Office, not Dark Knight.

I've got the first 4 seasons on DVD but don't think I'll be picking this up. I've seen most of the episodes more than once because of reruns and I just can't see myself watching the season again, although I'll likely catch some of the episodes when they re-air on TBS. I thought it was a decent season with a couple of duds (Super Bowl) and a couple of gems (the episode where Michael, Andy and Oscar to Winnepeg, the "frame with drugs" episode), but I still wouldn't put it up there with season 2 or 3.

I CAN'T WAIT! I've watched seasons 1-4 on dvd at least 4 times all the way through. I can't get enough of it.

My favorite episode is the episode when Jim throws Andy's cell phone up in the ceiling from season 3....classic!

Season 5 was one of the show's weakest years. But it's still very funny. Nothing will ever compare to Season 2. That one was brilliant from beginning to end.

I'll buy it just to get Universal to hopefully start releasing the earlier seasons. Hey, it worked with Lost.
