Default Add Analog outs to your PS3 for $128.00

Although they spelled bluray wrong - the gadget is right on time for people who do not desire to upgrade their receivers yet and own a PS3 or other BD player without analog outs. Here's the link

Cheaper than a new amp for sure.
But can anyone explain the connections, 'cos I'm confused.
HDMI in from the PS3 then HDMI to the screen presumably, but how do the analogue connections work?

Very interesting product. PS3 users with legacy receivers that have multichannel analog inputs can enjoy the beauty of lossless audio relatively inexpensively.

I wonder how good the DACs are? I'm sure good enough for most users, but I wonder what the purists would say.

Here are some pics from the site:

The 3.5mm jacks are stereo, so there's two channels per jack.

4 jacks = 8 channels = up to 7.1-channels of line-level audio.

Each wire would have a stereo 3.5mm jack at one end, and two RCA jacks at the other end.

The outputs are labeled on the unit. Yes, it would be a bit complicated at first, but a little wire labeling would take care of that.

The connections on the 3.5mm jacks would not be the greatest, to be sure, but once the unit is up and running, at least it isn't like an MP3 player or other portable device which gets jostled and banged around. It would just sit quietly and do its work.

I still wonder about its DACs, though.

Just like the cables that are available from makers of creative labs soundblaster series sound cards for pc's they make cables that are 3.5mm on one end and dual rca on the other end, they are probably color coded to match the 5 - 7.1 input jacks standard colors on most receiver/pre-pro's if not it won't be to difficult to figure out which is which (you've only got two choices per cable) two rca ends per one 3.5mm end. rmember, this is meant to go from this devices 3.5mm out into your receivers input (5 - 7.1) rca there is:
Front L & R
LFE(sub) & center
surround L & R
surround back L & R
so, depending on your configuration you will need either 3 or 4 of the cables mentioned above. I dare to gather that the unit comes with the cables for up to 8 channels (4 cables). If you don't want to buy a new receiver/pre-pro because you really like the one you have then, if this does infact put out the audio like it says it will then it's a good thing, if you don't want to/or can't swing a new receiver/pre-pro especially if you've got a real nice, expensive receiver or pre-pro that you don't want to part with that has NO HDMI and ONLY RCA analog inputs!

Works like a PC using 7.1 analog outs. You purchase 4 stereo 1/8th inch jack to RCA cables and plug them into the respective holes - now you have 8 rca jacks at the end for your 8 channel LPCM.
