It took 20 mins for mine to download, when it was done installing I downloaded the Surf's Up trailer (30MB) in less than 2 minutes. So I guess the update was around 200-300mb.

Mine took a long time as well. Think it's time for a new router.

Downloaded around the same time last night finished watching primeval and it said "A software update is available" So I did. I reset my RGB to full, and was able to bump my brightness up to 45 up from where I previously had it at 31 (no more crushed blacks!). Before I would get artifcating in black areas like sparkles if I went above 31. Now it's perfect! my picture is so 3 dimensional with the RGB set to full and brightness at 45. Also was able to lower my contrast to 50. Previously had it at 60 or I would lose detail.

I can say without a doubt my ps3 (set to RGB full fw 1.81)+HLS,1080p sammy DLP+ Pirates= the best picture I have ever seen.

I have switched over to wired permanently. I was having serious lag issues with my PS3. I don't have those problems with my laptops, so I went wired, and noticed a 10X increase in speed. Nothing beats wired if you can do it!!! I hope Sony realizes there is a problem and can fix it through firmware!!!!

If I changed to wired, it would be a 50+ cable. I think wireless is my best choice, and it doesn't seem to be bad at all for me. Downloaded 22megs in 1 minute from PS Network.. not bad. No lag in games either.

And in regards to the slow download... It all depends where you are downloading from and when. I downloaded mine right when it was released, and there was tons of traffic. I'm in US East, so alot of people we're downloading from there as well.

Also, the size HAS to include all the old firmwares, as someone could be upgrading from 1.6, or even 1.0.

The thing is sony is sneaky they usualy sneak in other fixes they don't
tell you about.. or modifications, like adding a I beam to the input screen.

I don't think they were being sneaky not mentioning the clearer green I beam, they probably just thought it wasn't worth mentioning and everyone would notice it.

Well to me Sony just gives you the highlights and lets the users peice what
they did.

I didnt mean like a evil sneaky I meant like a good sneaky, I call that giving
more then what you promised.
