Was the previous UK release uncut? I currently have the US Lionsgate release, but it definitely needed a new transfer.

No the UK Blu was cut by 5 seconds to a cockfighting scene.

Cock fighting is a BIG BBFC no-no, so yes it will be cut. The old director's chair DVD still had the scene in and was therefore fully uncut, depending on who you ask either because the BBFC missed it and took Momentum's word for it (it was, so-say, submitted to them pre-cut, but obviously not), or because Momentum sent the wrong version to the pressing plant. That error was rectified with the subsequent special edition DVD and carried through to the blu.

My hope is that this slipped through the BBFC again - It’s a tiny cut in an old film. Nevertheless, I have no intention of owning a censored version, if someone could confirm whether the cock-fight is present or not that would be helpful.

I own the German StudioCanal release and when the disc boots up you get German or French language options only. This would indicate that SC have authored a separate disc for the UK market.

Do you mean just the subs here m8 and that you can still watch the German BD in English?

Yeah, the English audio track is included alongside the German audio and German subs.

VERY unlikely - the Director's Chair DVD slip-up was a pretty big embarrassment for them at the time and they were hot on making sure it didn't happen again with the subsequent special edition DVD.

They have pretty long memories when it comes to things they've missed.
