Wrong!!! I read all of them! I just think people are blaming the wrong person. I was entertained and that is all I was looking for.

Some people are impossible to please. Lucky for the rest of us, filmmakers don't waste their time catering to such people; otherwise, no movies would ever get made.

Anyways, I think Ratner is getting a bad rap for something he may not have been involved in. And yes, I don't think X3 is as bad as some may think it is...IMO.
Ratner did have the script significantly changed, for example Magnetto breaking Mestique out was near the end of the film originally. I'm not sure how much he had it changed, but he did have input in that area.

Very well said, totaly agree.

I am glad he would return to X-Men, it should be interesting to see a Magneto origin movie. I like what they did with Wolverine prequel even if many here wil ljust come on this thread to call it a steaming pile of something. I tought it was a fun movie.

I thought the real culprit was FOX, who take control of everything and make steaming piles of crap out of anything that could be considered creative...

Yeah, but Ratner is responsible for asking questions such as, "Ok, so, Angel flies away at the beginning of the movie - and then, at the end of the movie, he just happens to be hovering around the massive mutant battle and catches his dad JUST as he falls out of the window?! . . . Anybody else this is complete cr@p?!!!"

Or, he could have asked - "Ok, so, we got this mutant with Porcupine spikes - he has to 'hug' the lady to kill her. . . . anyone else think this is stupid as hell?!"

I literally could go on and on with the ridiculous story and waste of potentially epic moments. . . Oooooh cool! A Sentinal's head!

Sorry, I'll leave it alone now. It's fine that this movie has its fans - I obviously am not one of them. The director is ultimately responsible - if he had better ideas, it's up to him to fight for them. Other directors have walked off the set rather than have their vision tampered with. I admire that. I don't admire Ratner. I've only like one movie of his - I hope he stays away from big production movies, he simply isn't up to them, imo.

This fan's perspective that will never happen is as follows:

Let Marvel Studios do any future X-men Movies along with any other movies involving their characters that Fox owns (Fantastic 4, Daredevil.) Tragically, Marvel sold their character rights to Fox while they were in financial distress and before they knew how profitable they would be as films.

Have Marvel Studios make and finance, with lucrative Fox distribution deals to pacify them and prevent that studio from having creative control. (A previous poster was right, Porcupine Man? Angel's timely appearance? Is this the Phoenix Saga without The Hellfire Club and the Shi'Ar?) They would have better movies and nice fat profits instead of peeved fans, and an ambivalent public.

Mind you, the Shi-Ar and space sequences would probably be incredibly difficult to storyboard and film. I could go with a full length Animated feature. Something to give Pixar a run for their money each summer.

Ratner did a fantastic job with X3.

I don't think I'd want Singer back after the turd burger that was Superman Retreads.

I didn't like X3. I liked Superman Returns.

I would love if Singer returned to the X-Men universe.

Yes, we have. And there's no way it would work as a motion picture.

Especially in the X-Movie Universe, where they built the foundation on reality.

Giving someone Adamantium bones is a foundation in reality?

If done correctly a Dark Phoenix saga would be awesome, unfortunately we got Ratner to try to film it.

Wolverine made X3 look good in my book. Hope he does come back though.

Obviously you have not read a single X-Men comic if you think Iceman and Rogue had a fling .. or that half the things in any of the movies were consistent with the comics Btw the Dark Pheonix saga would require a trilogy of it's own and be one of the most ridiculous movies ever made.

Ease off the gay bashing.

The entire sequence was a whole chunk of CGI lame though.

It was based on the Dark Phoenix Saga.

They just didn't have 20 hours to introduce everything, and used the Ultimate X-Men split personality aspect of the Phoenix to explain the other side of Jean. Bringing in the Hellfire Club, Sh'iar, Phoenix Force, and the M'Kraan Crystal amongst other things would have been absurd in the more reality grounded movieverse.

Jut like they're doing with Batman? The problem was it went awry. Overall fans were not happy with Supes Jr. It's ridiculous to think that the costs to develop a Superman film wouldn't be, in the end, included in the Superman budget. Unless a leprechaun magically pays for the missteps, someone has to pony up. While it's not Singer's fault that the money was spent, it was spent nonetheless. And while WB should take all the blame, just like in professional sports, the coach is the fall guy.

As for the 2.4x multiple, its a gross oversiplification that I wouldn't put much faith in, however your more then free to (its success is in all honesty a bit less then X-men 3 considring there budgets and box office takes).
Actually, 2.4X is not an oversimplification it's more fact. There are books I could point you to if you like (or some online articles). The multiple now is hovering more around 2.8x than 2.4 it all depends on budgeting, number of prints, other studios involved etc.
