I am really looking forward to this game. Hopefully Kojima makes the reboot into a successful franchise.

Castlevania is in dire need of a remake....it stuck with the DS a bit too long, and I'm very excited for this Kojima project!!

I don't think Kojima's got much input on this game.

The interior shots look impressively rich. If I was a long-time Castlevania fan I'm not sure how I'd feel about the brighter more colourful styling but they'd probably get more flak for making a "grey" game.

I saw the trailer for this the other day and this may very well be the first Castlevania game I've ever been interested in.

Very pleasantly surprised when I viewed the E3 trailer from the Japanese store earlier this week. Rich visuals, challenging platforming.. I just need convincing the combat's got substance.

Music gave me good shivers at the start of that last video too.

I am in direct contact with Dave Cox who is producing this game. I talk to him every now and again. If you have a good question I can put it forward for you.

I asked him about disc capacity since this is a cross platform game and it seemed that from his answer he was suggesting the DVD capacity was a concern (for the other machine). His answers are brief though as he usually uses his phone lol.

He is in the UK today on leave (game is developed in Spain) after a few days debugging the game. He told me its still well on target for a autumn release. One thing that made me smile was when he said "We are making gaming history here".. Thats a statement, looking forward to it.

If combat isn't just another button masher (God of War, Dante's Inferno) I will buy this day 1. The trailer looked amazing. Captain Picard is in it!!!!

Liking the sound of this.

Xbox's lack of Blu-ray a 'problem' for developers
Lords Of Shadow requires two discs on 360, reveals Mercury Steam
Quote:
The 360 version of LOS will ship on two DVD discs when it is released later this year - but the PS3 version will arrive on a single Blu-ray.

Mercury Steam boss Dave Cox told CVG sister mag Xbox World 360 that the problem of studios being unable to compress a full game onto a single DVD will be something Microsoft experiences "more and more" over the next few years.

He said: "Microsoft actually sent their tech guys to the studio to see the game and look at [how we're] compressing it, but they said: 'Okay, it's good. You're doing all you can.'

"I think it's something Microsoft are going to experience more and more - that they need to help developers overcome the storage problem."

He added: "I mean, each console has it's own issues [360's smaller disc capacity and PS3's slower loading times], but you have to work around them."

Cox said that - despite Hideo Kojima's involvement in LOS - cut-scenes weren't to blame. "They're pretty short," he commented. "Our longest one is 14 minutes, which is the end sequence... The game's around 24 hours long and every level's different. We have so much variety and we re-use very little assets."

He revealed that the first LOS Xbox disc will offer an install option on the in-game menu, allowing gamers to play the full title off the second disc.
Quote:
Cox's comments come months after Lost Planet 2 producer Jun Takeuchi revealed that Capcom had to hack content out of the 360 version of the game to fit it onto DVD.

Meanwhile, God Of War 3 developer Sony Santa Monica claimed that its PS3 exclusive required over 40GB of space - and was only possible on PS3.

We made the case for Microsoft adopting Blu-ray earlier this year, but it doesn't seem keen to take our advice.

Indeed, top MS bosses Aaron Greenberg and Stephen McGill have publicly stated that the console doesn't need storage devices with higher capacity.
Standard BDD + HDD ftw!

Now lets hope other developers don't take the cutting content path like Capcom.

Wonder how the review sites will spin that into a positive for the 360?

Its only one disc change. I wouldn't change for blu ray either. Its a + that PS3 has it, but its by no means a platform breaker for the 360. Both versions are nigh on identical in gameplay.

Indeed, it doesn't sound all that bad. Especially with their install option. As long as you have the HDD space, it's the same as playing from one disc.

Isn't PS3 being used as lead platform for this game?

Not a big deal but if it becomes the norm then I could see some issues being made for future games.
