I'm pretty sure that depends on how the disc author decides to make things work. Most of my TV series(es) don't auto-start any episodes but rather take me to a menu. Disney DVD's often auto-start the movie while other movies don't start until you press play from the Main Menu.

This would be coinciding with my other wish. I know it's not too big a deal, but I think it prevalent enough to have some type of option to select whether to resume something you've been watching from the point you left off, or to start from the beginning, rather than just assume you want to begin from where you left off.
I like this idea too, although I'm not sure how often I'd use it. But sometimes I'll put a movie in, watch half, then stop and put it away for a few weeks, then I come back to watch the movie and it starts where it left off again...no big deal, but still a good idea imo.

Hmm. That's interesting. This happens to me a lot when I watch my shows (on DVD, not Blu) which you might be right in it being like that. I just wish that it wouldn't happen. If it's unfixable, oh well. I can live with it. Regardless, I've been happy with my PS3 for over three years now.

I guess the fault lies with the makers of the DVDs and Blus on this one.

I agree. That's primarily why I would like this. Not a huge deal, but it would be kind of nice IMo.

I didn't realise there was an issue with DVD's.

The only thing i'd like is a bit more visualizations for when you play music. Psp has many.

I agree about the visualizations, I want them to have something more fancy and graphical, kinda like what the xbox 360 has, or even better yet, I really like the battery randomization visualization from windows media player 10.

If you're talking about the Jeff Minter visualisation and same style of visualisations WMP's had for generations, no way. They're ugly as sin and in no way more fancy and graphical than the current PS3 music visualisations.

XMB is fine. File creation and manipulation is sorely lacking, though. Visualizations, applications, an open door to small third party app creators...

My mom just got a little box called a Roku. It streams tons of free Netflix movies (much of it my taste) and Amazon video for sale. IMO it basically kicks my PS3s butt in terms of online video offering.

I love my PS3. Sony knows hardware; they ought to leave the creative software side to others.

I've said it before:

"Give us some better CD playing features -- like a better thing than the World and some funky colors changing on-screen. I would also like to see the way you can sort your CD and music lists improved. Finding a CD sucks when you are required to sort through everything to get to a title that starts with S. Give us at least an alphabet choice...man!

Otherwise...I love our PS3 "

This made me think of one - though it may be a little silly. I kinda wish their was a randomize option for XMB themes. (Or maybe I've just missed it.)

I really like the XMB - it's a clean, easy to navigate menu system. No need to overcomplicate things.

The XMB is pretty awesome. Minor tweaks here and there are great, just keep the look.

Well, if you don't have Auto start enabled, you can highlight the disc and hit Triangle, which brings up a menu with startup options...Play from beginning will start the disc as though you'd never played it before.

What do you mean BD mode?

Play something like an AVC video in the XMB and it starts up straight away. Exit the video and the XMB appears straight way. A lot of stuff is still running in the background as the video plays.

Start a Blu-ray movie, DVD (and AVCHD on a DVD?) and the screen goes blank for a few seconds as unnecessary stuff is cleared out for maximum, uninterrupted playback performance. Higher quality video can be played, mostly this is used for Blu-ray movie playback so BD mode seems like an appropriate term.

I really want (for Music) the option to sort like:

Blink 182: Dude Ranch
Blink 182: Enema of the State

etc

In iTunes i have a playlist for every album, sorted like above and its SO much easier than having all of them in the library stacked together. It would be great if the PS3 could do this too (i've done it myself but man it takes forever)

Movies - I love the 15 second preview, its great but i want to be able to put the movie poster to the movie and with a large image! Not the small folder size they have now.

BD - GIVE ME A Blu-ray LOGO WHEN IT LOADS UP Have wanted this for ages, no function just adds some class.

I have absolutely zero problems with the XMB interface! It's brilliance is in it's simplicity. Like others have said, they do need to add the ability for sub folders within each folder. Also I too would like to see more visualization options for when you play an audio track. Otherwise I think the XMB is pretty much perfect!

Another thing I would still like is to have the option of having my PS3 boot up directly into Home and then be able to fully access the XMB within Home. I would probably get more use out of Home this way.
