Default Projector help

Does anyone have recommendations on a great projector to purchase around $3,000?

What about screen size?

I'm building a house with a dedicated media room. Room is 18 (Deep) X 15 (Wide) and projector drop is going to be about 13 feet from wall.

Thanks!

Screen size with be determined largely based on the projector you end up getting.......

I'd check "Projector People" for pricing for units around $3,000 I'm not sure what's out there right now.

I researched for a while and decided on the Panny AE3000 ($2500). It's my first proj but I love it. You can check out some pics in the build and theater folders in my gallery.

I personally think your three top picks should be, in any order:

Panasonic AE3000
Sanyo PLV-Z3000
Epson HC6500UB

With a few others that would give those a run for there money. But like Beta man suggested check out Projector People, they helped me through my struggle. I even went against what they recommended for me and I am pretty happy.

I agree 100% My first choice was the Panny, Sanyo was second choice- the Epson was a bit out of my price range.

I asked what price I could get if I didn't want the free s#it and got $2399.

The reason I went w/ the Panny over the other two listed above was the zoom function if I go to a CIH setup later and the FI/120hz seemed to be less quirky on the Panny.
Bulb life wasn't a concern since I bought it to use it, and I have used the snot out of it.

My room is about the same size as yours. We went for a BenQ W5000 DLP®
Home Cinema Projector 1200 ANSI Lumens, 1080p Resolution with a 106-in. Pull-down screen and its perfect!

we love it, absolutely no complain, the image is sharp and clean, way better then the real movie theater.

while we were doing our renovation, one night we project a movie on a 14 feet wide white wall it was amazing even if it wasn't the right kind of paint. If I was to redesign my theater room I would go for a whole wall as a screen but since we had to still watch regular tv on the 50'' HDTV we went for a pull down screen.

See this thread about the Epson 6500UB https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=77221

I have it and it has to be the best projector under $8000, and its only $2700

My theater is 15 x 23 and I have a 120" 1.8 gain screen and the projector is about 15 feet from the screen. My Foot-lamberts are around 25, which falls comfortably within THX recommendations for image brightness, not to mention it looks fantastic!

First off, thanks to everyone for the advice so far...I'm leaning towards the Epson 6500UB.

1. Can anyone explain what the "creative frame interpolation" means? What does this really mean? Has the issue been fixed since the unit was released?

I'm not quite understanding 24fps30fps/60fps/96fps/120fps...If it matters, I use HD Time Warner and a PS3 as an input source.

2. Movie screenshots look amazing, especially the dark shots. How are sports and fast action sceens, especially football games?

3. Last attempt for input on this....Can anybody say they have a better projector to change my mind? I can get the Epson 6500UB for $2599 + a free replacement bulb.

Thanks everyone!

Buy it! Football looks great with the Epson, though I no longer watch TV in my Theater. I want to maximize my lamp life, so I stick to movies only.

Thanks for the reply...Hoping to get an answer on the interpolation and FPS, that's the only thing preventing me from buying today.
