I know people from the Dud side will love it if this comes out especially when their beloved Hd-DUD is about to die. Hopefully Blu-Ray will kill this debate by the end of the holiday season.

Default Total HD = DIVX

Remember Divx? That's what will happen to these. I think this is the most stupidest ideas I have ever heard. It ranks up there with Divx. Why in hell would I want an HD-DVD?? Absolutely pointless. I bet this will end up at Circuit City and bomb.

I understand Warner's intentions. From a marketing standpoint, they want to provide content that pleases everyone... however, this format war is just that, A WAR. You have to pick a side. I am an avid Blu-ray enthusiast and I despise the idea of sharing the "artwork side" of a future BD movie with HD DVD. It's wrong and I won't do it. I truly hope this war wraps up this holiday season. I think we have the artillery... lock and load and let's end this! Note to Warner (if anyone from the company happens to see this)... Your company owns rights to an excellent library of video titles. Please release Matrix, Batman Begins, V for Vendetta, etc... on Blu-ray and watch your profits soar. We WILL buy them but ONLY as Blu-ray releases, NOT totalHD. Thank you! Amen!

I hope that gets delayed (if not abolished) because I do not want to get LOTR TRILOGY EE sets if they are crippled with the use of TotalHD.

I'd be surprised if any THDs ever get made. This is the first we've heard of it for quite some time, and still no named titles, just an estimated start time. 6 more months should be long enough to bury HD-DVD and render these overpriced, poorly presented flippers obsolete.

Default Warner is committed to satisfying consumers???

Who asked for TotalHD? We want high bitrate video transfers, advanced audio, etc, not TotalHD. Put THD in a pawnshop.

Default Warner delays HD/Blu-ray Discs until 2008

Steve Nickerson, senior vice president of marketing management for Warner, said: "There is no expiration date on the viability of this concept, so we're not in a rush to do it. We'll do it when it makes sense and when it's right."

It's all about demand...If enough pepole ask for it..they will have to go for it.

Yes this is good news that Total HD discs have been delayed. What would be better news is if the concept was canceled. If Warner and other studios supported TotalHD discs then both formats could coexist or at the very minimum the format war would be prolonged.
I sure do not want to pay an extra $5+ dollars for a side of the disc I can not play, and if combo players were to become the norm then TotalHD discs is a very bad idea. I am glad that the DVD format when it was launched back in 1997 that they did not include a VHS tape with every DVD. The reason of course was cost.
Let’s all hope Total HD disc is canceled instead of delayed. Here is another couple of links to articles on the subject.

Warner might have better luck if they sponsored a player that was both a Blu-ray player and a VHS player. Because the current interest in VHS vastly outweighs the current interest in HD-DVD and probably always will.

Someone should start a petition or something like that to get Warner to drop this idea. I would do it, but I am not techie enough to figure out how to do something like that. First of all, Do they think anyone but themselves would use this? Maybe Paramount, but that would be it. Do you think Universal will? (oh yeah, its a TotalHD disc without the blu-ray side.) Do they think Sony, Disney, Fox (well who knows about them anyway) will want to release these. I am going to guess no. I know this idea came before the Blockbuster announcement, but does that mean the if they want to carry the Warner movies they will have to do the TotalHD discs. Just think of the nightmare it would cause for Netflix or Blockbuster. Say the HD-DVD side gets damaged (we all know the blu-ray side is more durable, but will it still be as durable when they get done with it?) What are they going to do? Take it out of circulation because the HD-DVD side doesn't work, but the Blu-ray side still works. How are they going to know if the person renting wants the Blu-ray or the HD-DVD? That would tick off a lot of people. Also, no 50gb discs, just one 25gb layer. We want the best quality possible, not some other format piggybacking for a free ride. Then, if this format war comes down to sales, who gets the sale? How would they know what the consumer intended to use? It would lower the sales statistics for both blu-ray and HD-DVD. I should stop now. I think I could go on and on. But I do think the idea of a petition website would be good. I know HD-DVD people don't like the idea either.

I always hated double sided DVDs, and TotalHD would be even worse since one side is completely useless. Count me in with everyone else who hopes delayed is code for canceled.

i guess no other studio showed any interest as warner hoped they would. warner didnt put money into it just for there own use, they wanted it to make them an extra dime the greedy bastards.

If they want more cash, just release on BD using the full ability of the Blu Ray format.

HD-DVD was so yesterday
