So I'm right. Oh well. Hope they don't screw up too bad. Still say it's way too soon for a remake of this.

Default A must for Blu-ray. A remake however is totally not necessary!!

They really should have released this movie a while ago on Blu-ray, afterall, have you seen some of the garbage being thrown out there...The New York Ripper for example?!! Who decides to release these mundane titles on HD?
Fright Night is a gem, I loved it when I was eleven and still love it. Not really sure if Colin Farrell has quite the range Chris Sarandon has. He may have the looks but he's certainly not suave or charismatic. Recent remakes (Elm Street for one!) haven't really warranted a need to re-hash perfectly great movies because most have been disasterous. And Michael Bay needs to get back in his cage.
In short: Fright Night Blu-Ray + extras YES PLEASE!
Remake? No thanks!!

They're waiting to release it with the remake. We have to wait until next year.

By the way, in the remake "McLovin" is playing Evil Ed.

Sony has announced it for release in France on October 6th. We might be getting it sooner than we thought.

Default What does oG 'Fright Night' Director Tom Holland think of the 2011 Remake?

Well, we caught up with him at Con last weekend and it sounds like hes down...You can watch HERE for the whole Q&A. Is this the year of remakes and 3D? Are we seriously out of fresh ideas already? Its only the 21st century!

Default Fright Night stuff

I recently saw, on hidefdigest.com, Fright Night is slated for future release on Blu-ray by Sony. Sweet!

I could only hope that Fright Night II gets a long overdue Blu-ray release. The Artisan DVD release of FN2 is dreadful. It has a 1.33:1 aspect ratio, a VHS quality transfer, and -0- extras. It's shamefully bad - really. Not only that but the FN2 DVD is long out of print and sells for $50+ on ebay and Amazon.

FN2 Played on Monsters HD (RIP) in 2008 so perhaps this will get a Blu-ray release soon.

Lionsgate has the rights. Hopefully they will release it soon.

I can't wait for Fright Night on blu! One of my all-time favorite 80's vamp movies - just the right combination of humor and horror. Chris Sarandon and Roddy McDowall are great in it, along with Amanda Bearse (although her playing a teenager is a bit of a stretch ). I usually whip out my 1999 DVD and watch it each Halloween.

It's Sony, so it should look pretty darn good too

Cool It is on Cinemax in 2:35 ration in HD and looks fantastic!!!

Paramount must have purchased the film and remastered it. In 2:35 it is like seeing it for the first time. Artisan wanted it in 1:33 so they would sell more.

Default Fright Night(1985)?

There is a rumor floating around that this may be released on blu this august to collide with the remake in theaters.

There no doubt in my mind we will see it this year because of he remake. We might even get really lucky and get the sequel from Lionsgate.

I'd pretty much guarantee you'll see this because of the remake. That's the ONE great thing (IMO) about the current remake frenzy going on. You get the originals put out in high-quality editions.

I loved Fright Night and my only hope is that the proposed *shudder* remake will lead to a nice HD issue of the original film. Wonderful blend of humor and horror, and the guy who played the Peter Cushing like actor was gold!
