Issues I have with the TV wall unit
1.my family want's to buy the product above to place the TV on In the room where the HT will be the Wall unit will take up all of the wall space,they want to me to put the front floor standing speakers in front of the wall unit,I see several issues with this that are listed below

1.I thought the front speakers (Floor standing) have to be lined up with the TV on the side of the TV?
2.Once the speakers are placed in the ideal spot in the room should they be moved back and forward or should you just leave them in the original spot you place them if the sound sounds Ideal and after I auto calibrate them,I imagine if I do move them back and forward when I use them I had to recalibrate them each time I use the Home Theater?
3.If I get them to change the wall unit to a TV stand to accommodate my Front Floor standing speakers I will post again to show you the TV Stand I want to buy.

Now the other thing I want to buy is a component rack to place my HT Gear on but my family has several issues about that here they are.

I hope I don't offend any one who uses AV Racks in there setup.

1.They think that AV Racks went out of style in the 80's and were replaced by wall units is this true?

2.I know that down the line if I add more components I will run out of space in the wall unit but with an AV Rack some models are expandable so when I buy a new components I can just add more shelf's to the AV Rack as needed.

You wouldn't need to recalibrate if you just move the speakers to the same place every time you watch a movie......

A wall-unit that takes up the entire wall is certainly not ideal if you have floor-standing speakers.... you're sure there is no room on either side?

Component racks aren't out of style.... but some people just don't like them.... The "Wife" is usually one of those people!

If you had an entire wall unit that took up the entire wall, I'm sure there would be room somewhere in it to place your components..... not sure why you'd need a component rack in addition to it.

Here is the wall unit we have..... the pictures I could find of it at least....





It holds most 50" T.V.s, and I still have 3-4 feet on either side of it.... I think it's 9' long or so... but it can hold everything I need. I just have three speakers on top of it now, blocked by plants (because I use another room for Movie viewing) but you could certainly do a proper 5.1 or 7.1 setup while using this stand.... so I don't see why the one in your link wouldn't work.....

Is the stand going to go along a shorter wall? Can you reconfigure the room to have this on a longer wall?

If the Wall-unit takes up the entire wall, it's too big for your room.... speakers or not...

It's funny, but when I see wall units like that I think they're out of date personally. There are some really nice ones in people's HT's here on the site, but that would definitely be far from my first choice. My favorite setups are wall-mounted HDTV's above a nice HT stand that hides and cools your components.

It's all up to individual tastes.

It is. I'm not a big fan of wall units, but they do look good in some setups. What kills me is when someone limits their TV size based on their wall unit. If it cam down to that I'd break out the saw.

That wall unit I have is solid Mahogany, and retails for $3k..... so the wife wouldn't let me hack it apart if it came down to that.......

I also prefer wall-mounted HDTVs with components in built-ins within the wall..... but I rarely get my way

The speakers will look odd sitting in front of the wall unit - IMHO. If your wife is that big on looks - try that angle on her. See if you can get her to go for a combo stand/rack - I've even seen those at WalMart. They have a flat panel mount attached to the back of a wider than normal component rack. Some of them look pretty slick and would allow room for your speakers on either side while still being "phase-aligned" with your center channel speaker.

This is the type of Furniture I am looking for but I have a couple of questions first

I don't want Furniture built with wood veneer material because I have a bad experience with that material I have a PC Desk and it's falling a part I was using an External Keyboard to type easier but can't use that anymore because where you place the keyboard the peice fell off and the desk is separating in multiple places also.

1.I guess to store my AV components can from scratch I build a hybird Audio Tower/Equipment Rack from home depot also?

2.Media Storage For Cd's DVD's And Bluray since my movie collection grows rather fast I think I will go the either the RTA Route or if I don't like what I see can I go to Home Depot or sam's and get the wood and build it with my dad?

3.A Sofa bed if possible with a message chair built in.

I would also like a couple of websites so if I don't go the custom built/RTA I can have a varity of choices and brands.

I have also heard about a company called D-Box from this website, I have been to the website and know you can buy a platform to retrofit your Furniture but for instance can you put any piece of setting Furniture including the Sofa bed mentioned above and also what's the difference between the D-Box Technology built in to the Furniture and the platform, I will be using my Home Theater for Movies and Gaming.

Salamander Designs is a nice site. They allow a sort of custom cabinet configuration. Not sure if they have media storage, but I'm sure they do.

I think a sofa couch with massage capabilities will be impossible to find. I'm not even sure that it can be done.
