No Sammy Hagar tunes makes this lame. That was like half the band's history, and had some great tunes. Man, GH just can't get it right anymore. Thanks, Activision. Saving me some money.

As a plastic drummer this sucks. Alex had so many fun parts during the Sammy years.

I've just got to say this...most of you who have been complaining I see frequent the RB mega and that's fine. I like RB as much as the next guy but when it comes to GH, you all just seem to nitpick, have your nitpick explained, seem to conventiently not read the explanation and complain anyways. Somebody already answered why there aren't any Sammy Hagar-sung tracks on this game and it sounds like it had as little to do with Activision as some of you would have hoped.
I'll be honest, I'm probably going to get this game, especially with that AB song and a couple of others that I'd rather play on GH than RB, more notes, more fun. But the main reason is that I just want more charts. That's also the same reason I might get me some Beatles, who IMO, are one of two bands who if having their own game should have it charged as full price, not because they are incredibly fun, because honestly, they probably won't be, but because they're simply loved enough.
It's sad that anything GH-related on these boards gets so frequently bashed because as a fan of music games, I can tell you that both franchises have a lot to offer, even if neither of them are perfect.

This may be true, my main gripe is the fact that most of the stuff they release for new GH games could easily be released on an a la carte basis. Instead they produce a whole new game using some new songs surrounded by stuff that's already been released and charging sixty bucks for it. Instead I'd rather get the songs I like for 2 bucks a song and forget the rest of the trash.

I don't call criticizing a game that revolves around a band (Van Halen) which is missing half of their discography to be "nitpicking".

Do you?

I guess we have to agree to disagree then, because frankly charging a full price for a game with only half the songs from a good-but-not-amazing band (regardless of the reason) is asinine, IMO.

This whole game should have been DLC for GHWT/GH5, or at most a track pack. Not a full game. Not when they can not hope to deliver the "complete band experience".

the Beatles did not split amicably . . . yet you are not just getting Paul McCartney songs in Beatles Rock Band. Maybe this game should have waited until half the band's lineup was deceased

Roth era is my favorite anyway but I do like some Hagar songs too . . .

yeah, if they are going to release a game centered on 1 band, they should have songs from all parts of the bands discography, if they cant get half of the songs for whatever the reason is, they shouldnt be releasing a game that only by looking at the cover implies that you will be getting the full experience from that one band, make it DLC and people can still get the songs if they want, but they can also pick certain ones if thats what they want

That's fine but I did agree with you on one thing in my earlier post. There are only two bands I think that if given their own game, should charge full price for that game and of course The Beatles are one of them, VH is not, especially without many of their songs. Speaking of, is RB going to do a Metallica/VH type of thing and put some non-Beatles songs on RB: Beatles?

Not missing much in the Hagar era VH due to them confusing a keyboard for a guitar

(that was sarcasm)

That's really my primary complaint (other than Activision's seeming desire to drive rhythm games into the ground, but that's a separate issue).

I've got no particular axe to grind against Van Halen themselves - I own a couple of their albums on CD, and enjoy quite a lot of their music. It's just disappointing that the various band members couldn't resolve their differences enough to come to the table to give their fans a complete experience.

The Beatles: Rock Band is exclusively songs from The Beatles (as will all of the DLC).

I'm neither here nor there regarding band-specific games having songs from other bands. I don't really think it detracts from the game experience, but I don't think it enhances it either. I do think it is unfortunate that the songs and DLC from TB:RB aren't going to be exportable to the main Rock Band game, though. If I can criticize anything about the game, it would be that.

And you've proven that you are a guitar hero fanboy through and through because no matter how valid the criticism of Guitar Hero is you are there to nitpick the argument and claim it doesn't matter.

We get it. You love Guitar Hero. In spite of the fact that you claim you don't consider GH perfect you have *never* criticized it in the slightest, and can't stand to see it so.

My loyalty to The Mighty VH is inked into my skin.

Having said that, EVH is a money-grubbing bastard. First, get a second mortgage. Go see 2 reunion tours with both lead singers in 3 years. Next, a pieced-together replica guitar that costs $25,000. Then, another Wolfgang guitar - $3000. Don't forget about the Frankenstein striped shoes, cables, bags, strings, picks. Did I forget anything?

Oh yeah, the game.

I remember when VH was about making music, not money.

What does it mean then when I say that I enjoy playing RB as much as GH? As I have so many times. It's possible to enjoy something without having to hate it's rival in the genre. And why, oh God why?!?! does it always come back to the fanboy accusation with you? Fanboys love one thing to hate the other. And how many mother effin' times do I have to say that I far from hate RB to the point that I love it? You're impossible. Also, wouldn't someone, such as Icemage did, deduce from my later post in this thread that I didn't think it was alright for Activision to charge full price for a GH:VH? But you're so blinded by your need to argue that you decided to read my one post and skip the many others that followed. Whatever

Pre-ordering + cancelling doesn't work. You need the code from inside the GH5 manual.

How much would anyone like to wager that the only "specially marked" copies will be GH5 bundles?

Just checked with them, they said its only one the specially marked copies, and that they messed up by putting preorder, as its kind of false advertising..

What does "specially marked" mean exactly? And when you say they were falsely advertising, does that mean you won't get VH when you pre-order? And also, when is someone supposed to get the actual game, how much earlier? What an incredibly poor choice of wording...

It would be 2 months earlier.. Only certain packages will say Free VH game with purchase on front.. And that's right with preorder, you are only guaranteed that special packaged game, or that's what I got from the developers.
