Let's stay away from specific brands and models... just describe what your ideal speaker would look like if you could design it. Do you like towers or bookshelves, 2-way or 3-way, ported or unported, black or woodgrain, monsterously big or hidden and concealed, etc etc. You get to be a speaker engineer... go!

My ideal speaker would look just like this.
Sansui SP-X8000. Love it.

Electrostatic clarity, dynamics and efficiency of horns, bass extention of the best subwoofers, and the imagery of the best monitors!!! And I know this is physically impossible so we all live with compromises !!!

Hmmmm monitors. If I ever had the chance for a dedicated room then my dream choice for Home cinema would be high end Genelecs or Procella's. I doubt I'd ever need to hear another speaker again !

Then again, I want to do 22.2 surround, so I think I might have to do a few bank job's first if anyone's up for it ? Think Swayze, Point Break, and the Ex-Presidents.....

Well with my wife done with school now and the schedule around my job starting to stabilize, I may be able to do a little speaker shopping after Xmas this year. I am also considering building or having a company like Elemental Designs custom build speakers for me. I may be to put some of my wacky ideas of what I like in a speaker to the test!

Maybe I should change purveyor to pusher.

Music is like a drug after all.

The best security for those things is the weight. Each 802D weighs more than me and the HTM1D is what--205 lbs?

You guys will have to pull up in teams of 2-3 with a good sized truck and avoid my retired Bulgarian neighbor who thinks all problems should be solved with his shotgun, as you're robbing the goods.

I was going to crack wise with some burglary joke but thought it might be in poor taste. Luckily, Beta Man was around to pick up the slack!

I would have a mix between the McIntosh XRT2K (forty tweeters, sixty-four midrange and six woofers) and the Meridian DSP8000's (all-digital from processor to speaker).

McIntosh

Meridian with close up of speaker terminals
