Paramount continues to improve on their already great HD releases. This time they have added HD audio options to their upcoming release of "Next."

"Next" will offer a Dolby TrueHD track on HD DVD and PCM on Blu-ray.

Already offering extras in HD as well as being format neutral Paramount are delevering some of the best releases in high definition and they seem to continue their stream of quality releases

I heard too from David an expert reviewer on Hometheaterspot.com have a contact with a representative of Paramount just they will begin to use HD Audio for BD on August28,2007.

Title Next is going to be their first HD-Audio PCM all the way Bravo.

I know the movies would kick @$$ in Blu, but if the tv series aren't in HD, it does little to just release it in HD format cause you gain little to nothing from it. But if they are made in a higher quality then I'm all for it!
Next Gen rocks! So does DS9!
I'm sure they were all filmed, so HD is definately possible. But some of their poor special effects may show up in such high resolution!!!

Much is made to do about if Universal were to go neutral, That the format war would be over. That in itself is a refreshing feeling for Blu-ray supporters, but take this scenario into consideration,

Should (or should I say IF) Paramount went BD exclusive this IMO would have a much bigger impact than if they went HDDUD exclusive. IMO, if Paramount went BD exclusive, this would also in effect end the format war.

With then only WB & Uni backing HDDUD with only Toshiba whoring out their players, their wouldn't be much more left for them to do but throw in the towel. I really wish a company like PM would do this. Right now is the time to do it, if they continue backing the wrong horse they are just going to piss off those same HDDUD'ers and allot more should they continue on this doomed path. The writing is on the wall for HD-DUD Paramount, cut support for them and lets wrap up this Blu-thing!

Why would Paramount go neutral when they can make more money by selling to both sides?

If they contribute to quickly ending the war in Blu-ray's favour, then there is no other side to sell to. Not only will the vast majority of HD DVD owners migrate to Blu-ray, all those waiting for the war to end will also buy in.

It's strategy over tactics.

This is wishful thinking... it's not going to happen. They would not risk 33-40% of HD Disc revenue.

I would think if that ever hit 20-25% there would be more of a chance.

That's short-term thinking. The sooner all the neutral (and HD DVD exclusive) studios switch to Blu-exclusive, the sooner the war will be over. With that obstacle out of J6P's way, the market for HD media will grow much faster that it is currently, and all studios will make more money.

I agree, i think that they will wait till either more studios move over to blu-ray or they start seeing blu-ray sales beating hd-dvd sales 3:1 at least. Also it probably won't happen this year, but if ps3 sales keep up like they are now we could probably see something like that next year

I think we could see it happening sooner if Blu would release catalogue titles like snatch and boondock saints, I know those 2 alone would get my friends to buy BD players.

I think everyone is forgetting that WB, Paramount, and Uni all have contractual obligations to support HD, when those end and under what conditions they may be terminated are unknown, but from rumors they expire at the end of the year.

Has there ever been any proof of that? I've heard that rumor before, but have never seen any actual facts supporting it.

There will never be any proof of that available to the public, just like there will be no proof of whatever perks Disney, Fox, LG, etc are getting.

Studios don't take sides for no reason, there's always something in it for them. Whether it's better copy protection, royalty discounts, direct payoffs, whatever.

I read somehwere a few years ago that Paramount is considering remastering ALL the Star Trek series, including the original, in hi def. They also are discussing updating the effects in the original series.

Anything shot on film (even 16mm) will look better in HD than in SD digital.

This includes I Love Lucy, Andy Griffith, and many, many other shows.
