Default Anyone own a Shiba Inu?

Does anyone have a Shiba Inu? I am wondering how they act around babies. Me and my fiancee had gotten a puppy but sadly, she passed away. So, I am looking into getting a Shiba Inu. I know these dogs are independent in their own ways so I was wondering how they would act towards babies since we're getting the dog as a test run towards having a baby.

I've heard that they are not good with children because they get jealous.

I've always wanted a Shiba Inu but they are expensive. I ended up getting a Jindo, kind of the Shiba's Korean cousin.

One thing to keep in mind, Shiba's will shed, ALOT. A furminator will be your friend.

Any dog is best brought into a house where children are already present. No matter how good a dog may be around adults, they tend to see kids as other dogs and want to play with them like puppies and some may not appreciate the order re-establishment when a new person is brought in and it knocks them down a wrung in the ladder. Acting out and marking may be the least of your problems.

My dogs chase my nieces/nephews/young cousins when they move quick -

just get a cute mutt from the pound, it will be smarter and love you more than any other dog plus you will be saving a poor animal's life.

purebreds are retarded animals for shallow people. be a dog lover, not a dog owner

Mutts tend to live longer and be well tempered too.

We got our Jindo from the Los Angeles Animal Shelter during one of their public adoptions. Best $100 we ever spent. Free neuter and chipping with registration of the dog.

I have a purebred Australian Shepherd ... she is smart and probably the best pet I have ever had. Got her when she was 11 weeks old. I love her to death. I am not shallow. I am an animal lover. Your comment was somewhat good until the ignorance in the second part of it.

i just had a baby girl 5 weeks ago and both of my dogs love her.
we have a 13 1/2 year old BLACK labridor/chow-chow mix daisy. she loves the new addition. at her old age she 'chills' alot but she loves kissing my baby girl whenever we tell her to.
i dont think she minds as long as she gets the leftover food on our dinner plate......lol

our 2nd dog, scooby 2 1/2 years old, a white 100% jack russel loves the new addition. every time the baby cries he RUNS to her and then runs back to us and lets us know she is crying (like we cant hear her)

i feel as long as you have well trained dogs who are LOVING then a new baby wont be a problem.

the jack russel is one hyper dog and he poses no threat to the baby nor ever has.....he just likes 'watching over her' when she is sleeping by sleeping next to her

now if you get a pitbull or whatever, then youre asking for trouble.

im a fan of the pound as-well. it feels good to save a dog from living in the cage that i feel like they will always remember how i saved them.
god forbid the day my 13 1/2 year old diog dies.....im going to the pound a month later to get a new 6 week old AND going to get a greyhound as-well.
dogs dont forget ala elephants. they KNOW you saved them

apologies to the OP but don't take advice from this person with regard to purebreads. As an owner of a pure breed Rhodesian Ridgeback his statement could not be further from the truth.

I have a Siberian Husky. He wasn't raised with kids so he's not great around small children. He tries to knock them over or thinks they are play toys. I imagine a Shiba Inu can be the same.
