Pretty neat, not my thing but after making the mistake not once, but five times now, I must share my stupidity.

Everytime I see this topic I read it as "Tron on Blu-Ray."

I also enjoyed it. I know I'm probably in a minority, but I was looking forward to getting this one moreso than V for Vendetta. I haven't watched that on DVD since I first bought it.

I loved troy in the theatre and I feel this is one of the best epic battle sequences to have on BD. It will hold me over until LOTR comes out.

I did not think it was too bad at all. I mean it's not the same as reading The Iliad but for a 2 hour movie, not bad.

I may be biased as I like this time period. I loved the scene of the armada of invading ships all converging on Troy. As I said earlier, I'd definitely buy the BD and the fact that it is a Director's Cut has me more interested.

To each, their own I guess

Press release:

Quote:
Troy Director’s Cut Debuts on a Two-Disc DVD, UCE, HD and Blu-ray from Warner Home Video September 18

BURBANK, Calif.--On September 18, Warner Home Video will debut Wolfgang Petersen’s all-new, unrated version -- not seen in theatres -- of his epic film Troy. With 30 minutes of new footage, Troy Director’s Cut, including special features from its first DVD release, will be available in collectible O-sleeve packaging and will sell for $20.97 SRP. HD DVD and Blu-ray disc versions will debut simultaneously at $34.99 SRP.

Also offered will be the Troy Ultimate Collector’s Edition ($39.92 SRP), which will include collectible memorabilia such as “The Art of Troy” photo book, behind-the-scenes photos and select pages from the shooting script of the Academy Award®-nominated director (The Perfect Storm, Outbreak, In the Line of Fire, Das Boot). Orders are due for all August 14.

Oscar® nominee Brad Pitt (Ocean’s Thirteen, Twelve Monkeys) brings a dynamic, brooding presence to the role of Greek warrior Achilles in this spectacular retelling of The Iliad. Orlando Bloom (Pirates of the Caribbean) and Diane Kruger (National Treasure) play the legendary lovers who plunge the world into war, Eric Bana (Munich, Lucky You) portrays the prince who dares to confront Achilles and Peter O’Toole (Venus) rules Troy as King Priam. Director Wolfgang Petersen recreates a long-ago world of warship flotillas, clashing armies, a massive fortress city and the towering Trojan Horse.

Troy is a masterwork compared to Alexander. I have it on preorder, maybe I'll like it better on BLU?

I loved Troy - saw it in the theater and really enjoy it. I've been wanting to buy this on BD ever since it was released on HD-DVD, but now that it's coming and it's the Director's Cut, I'm super excited. The BD cover is also a huge improvement over the theatrical/DVD/HD-DVD releases....looks AWESOME!!!

Here's the link at Amazon.
