Default Halloween 3D...2010

Looks like the Weinsteins are gonna try to capitalize on the whole 3d craze going on right now. Zombie won't be back...new director, different spin. Link below:

I have to admit, the whole 3d gimmick makes even crappy movies a bit more fun. And hopefully it's better than the steaming pile of crap RZ released on theaters this weekend.

I can't stand 3d and it's sad that movie companies have to use a gimmick to make you see their crap. One of the reasons I'm not excited for avatar.

To quote Randal from Clerks; "I don't watch movies."

But seriously, 3D movies imo, suck. I saw Bolt 3D and hated it.

Didn't see H2 yet, I'll probably see at the dollar theater.

I'm so glad to hear that Zombie wont be back. I've haven't seen his second Halloween film, but his first one was one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

I'm very intrigued about the 3D movie because the new guy wants to take it into a different direction. Maybe it will be like Superman Returns and it will be a direct sequel to one of the original Halloween movies. A direct sequel to the original Halloween II would be awesome.

Invest in Uwe Boll movies. They'd be right up your alley.

So long as it will be released in Summer like the previous Halloween movie remakes have been, it's doomed to not do as well as Halloween movies that are... y'know... released NEAR HALLOWEEN.

The Weinstein's have some really stupid people working in their marketing department.

I have never understood why they'd release Halloween in August. It's called Halloween for Christ's sake! Friday the 13th was released on a Friday the 13th after all.

I'm confused by your statement. Are you sticking up for Rob Zombie? You're entitled to your own opinion, but I personally think that Zombie is an untalented hack when it comes to directing.

For a horror movie fan, Zombie sure doesn't know how to make one. He violated the most important rule for a horror film: show as little of the antagonist as possible. His version of Halloween had absolutely zero suspense because he showed the audience too much Myers. Part of the original movie's mystery and allure was not knowing much about the character. Zombie lifted the veil and gave us horrible explanations for mysteries that we didn't want to know the answers to.

Can you really blame 3D for a Miley Cyrus movie sucking? No.

It all depends on the film itself, though I find more and more that b-movies (My Bloody Valentine 3D, The Final Destination, even some of the older Universal properties) were essentially what 3D was made for. Can you imagine Wicker Man in 3D?

If the new director, Patrick Lussier, is able to avoid taking himself as seriously as Zombie and create something original without actually compromising what makes Myers scary this should be a fun movie. At the very least we'll have something more enjoyable than what Zombie would've delivered.

For the record I actually enjoyed Zombie's first Halloween, not as much as Carpenter's and I'll be the first to admit its an empty shell of film next to what Carpenter accomplished with the original, but H2 was just a depressing mess. It wasn't scary. It was padded out and nonsensical mess of a movie that there was no need to exist, at least not in the form that Zombie envisioned it.

Confirmed: Patrick Lussier will direct Halloween 3D and will start shooting by the end of this year. This could get ugly, but a new direction is needed.

Good choice on Patrick Lussier as director. He isn't new to the franchise since he edited H20 and has worked with the somewhat difficult Weinstein brothers on 4 films he directed before, But what has really got me excited is Tod Farmer is writing this. The two worked together on My Bloody Valentine 3D which was decent. Plus he also wrote Jason X, and i believe The Messengers, so you have a guy who grew up on slasher films and know how to make them as well. Zombie may have watched Halloween on acid, while Farmer really studied the film. The rushed schedule does scare me a bit, but Lussier pulled off Dracula 2000 by starting filming in June for a December release. Good luck guys.
