Also, he's not just a director. He writes his movies. Not to mention he hand picks the fantastic soundtracks.

I think Reservoir Dogs is his best picture. Jackie Brown was good and showed a level of maturity his other films lack. I don't care for anything else he's directed (I haven't seen his latest, though, but I plan to in a few weeks).

I thought Reservoir Dogs was an audacious film, especially for a first time director. It's his least indulgent, and the plot is tight and tension filled. The use of non-linear narrative is clever, though it would be overused in his later films. It was also the film with his most defined characters, ones that had some depth to them. In most of his others they are cyphers, meant only to be cool.

Tarantino has always been good at creating an almost unbearable tension in his films, but in Reservoir Dogs it seemed to really count, because I cared about those characters and worried about them dying. Though most of the characters were criminals, they all had their own varying levels of morality and ethics. The humor also came from the characters, and not the situation like in Pulp Fiction. Again, I think this is something missing from his recent films.

I don't think Tarantino will ever again make something as good as Reservoir Dogs. He seems to be content to create campy parodies of the exploitation films he loved as a youth.

yes man, thank you, for taking my reqest

and it a tough one now, I picked Pulp Fiction, as it delivers on most things you want in movies yet does something radically diffrient.

I love most his movies though:

Kill Bill. awesome amount of fun and humor.

Inglorious Basterds. such a smart film that treats it audience with respect

Resivioir Dogs. This was the one I almost picked, for being a very complex film, about honor among thevies.

I haven't seen Jackie Brown or Death Proof, I heard Death Proof is a letdown, and I find it hard to track down Jackie Brown. I will watch it one day though.

Kill Bill Vol. 2 for me, followed by Vol. 1 and Inglorious Basterds.

They're all interesting, and I understand how "Pulp Fiction" is great.

But my favorite is "Kill Bill Vol 1," and I think it is his best work. The visuals in it are awesome, the acting is great, the characters/story are very strong, and the action is incredible. And it still captures the Tarantino essence.

I can see how some directors' films, you may have a hard time talking about. Especially considering most action movies these days have throw-away directors with little or no talent.
Hold on...Am I reading this right? Please tell me I'm not.

Are you trying to say I don't like Tarantino's films because they are "thinking" movies or something like that instead of just flashy blow-em-up action movies?

While I don't necessarily agree with joining a forum just for that, but I do some what agree with you. I think Kill Bill 1/2 and Inglorious Bastards are his only real good films. Pulp Fiction is the R Rated 90s version of Juno. It was good the first time but listening to that lame trendy dialogue over and over gets harder and harder.

I'm sure you realized I left that open to interpretation, but yes, his movies are thinking movies that require nearly as much patience as reading a book. Do you like flashy blow-em-up action movies? I wasn't aware. I thought that perhaps your avatar was some ironic statement against action movies, what with the Vin Diesel facepalm. I suppose I like them too sometimes. They have their place.

I hope you know I'm joking. I'm just here to discuss Tarantino flicks and how they differ from other movies.

Where is the "All of the above" choice?

I am a huge fan of Tarantino's body of work and Pulp Fiction is one of my all time favorite films. Kill Bill 1&2 and Inglorious Basterds are top notch films as well.

Bring on the Pulp Fiction Blu-ray already.

Nice avatar. I picked Inglorious Basterds, but it wasn't really fair to place it above Pulp Fiction or KB vol 2 IMO. They're all number one material in my book. (And I happen to have a book)(Death Proof reference)

I have to go with Pulp Fiction, followed closely by both of the Kill Bill films and Inglorious Basterds.

09/10 Kill Bill 1
09/10 Inglourius Basterds
08/10 Jackie Brown
07/10 Kill Bill 2
