I consider this thread just another sneaky way to impune TDK. The cynic in me can never take people at their word anymore, sad to be so jaded, yet aware of it.
That being said... when I watch movies on our 47" LCD and then watch the same movies on our 73" DLP the flaws in the non perfect transfers are always more apparent. |

I look at TDK and think its an ok transfer. Big Trouble in Little China and the older James Bond films and Blade Runner have an amazing transfer for how old they are, that is what I love about blu-ray make older films look like they were filmed yesterday

A good quality blu-ray is watchable from about 2 to 2.5 screen heights. At that seating distance you get the opportunity to immerse in a panoramic 1080p HD picture. If you need to move away from the screen, due to picture quality issues, you will lose HD advantage of immersibility and ability to appreciate details.

I wouldn't sat The Dark Knight is worse or better, but when I looked at it while watching it on a 96 inch screen in my room, it looked better from the larger screen size over my Samsung TV. I did notice edge enhancement in both the TV and the projection screen with 2.35:1 content (IMAX scenes look just as extrodinary as before. If you want to pick others that would change your opinion, watch Patton or Pan's Labyrinth (Both utilizing DNR) I watched those on a 165 inch screen, and the DNR while doesn't make them bad transfers, suffer problematically from DNR, in fact alot of movies are using DNR if you notice on that big of a screen, even I robot did appear to use DNR in some cases (It's subtle). I love Front projection because you can have such a big screen for such a low price. I bet today you can get a 1080p projector with a 150 inch screen with 7.1 lossless audio and speakers for less than $2000.
