I would never tell a client of mine to downgrade his remote from an MX-980 to a Harmony under an circumstances. They are just not that good in the department of customization which is what makes this industry tick.

I'm not biased - I sell Harmony as well, but I am shocked that people would tell you to dipatch a superior remote like the MX-980 for a Harmony simply because you made an equipment change. NUTS. And about not paying programmers, your going to buy a Plasma/Projector/LCD with a Receiver/Preamp/Amp along with a Bluray/DVD/Media Manager as well as audio equipoment and your going to complement that with a 100 dollar remote? So your quipment is worth about 10K (and it's probably more) but let's just be conservative. Your control investment (the only link between you and your equipment) is worth about 1% of the total investment?

That's the problem...
Don't worry as I stated in my original post " I love my MX-980" I found an installer to program the remote and work with me in my HT for $105.00. That's chump change compared to what the MX-980 brings.

I do have a bedroom system that I might look into the harmony for that, it sounds like a good remote. But I paid a lot of money for my 2 systems and i bought 2 MX-980's @ 649.99 programmed a piece. It's a lot of money....

BUT WORTH EVERY PENNY !!!

It's great that you found someone to program your MX-980.

The 105$ figure doesn't look too bad either (I know that it might sound too much for people who do it themselves but honestly if you hired a professional installer to program a Harmony remote, you can be sure it won't be free).
