K, now I gotta butt my head in. Is he still eligible to receive the 5 free movies from BDA? That would be an additional 5 he could take....or does it not apply to combo players?

A note on all the criticism and advice being thrown around: to each his own!

Kudos on the 4 year warranty though. Hopefully it blows up on it's 3rd year and you can cash in on a 3rd/4th gen BD player!

( I would say combo player, but HD-DVD will be long forgotten by then)

Thanks for the support. How would I look into the BDA thing for 5 more movies? Any idea where I could find out about that?

Sorry, but the LG is not part of the 5 Free Blu-ray moives by mail.
